On July 26, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. the Masonic Philosophical Society will be hosting a study group at the Evanston Public Library. Each Meetup a different topic, ranging from philosophy and science to religion and metaphysics, is discussed, debated and related to the principles of Freemasonry.
July's topic will be conducted by Brother Katie Cumsille on The Evolution of Alchemy. After a short Lecture a discussion and debate by all members of the study group will follow.
The secrets of Nature and Science have captured great minds like Isaac Newton and Paracelsus. Their studies taking them into the secret world of alchemy. They hid their knowledge in symbols and scattered them across confusing and chaotic art. Lifetimes of scientists and their apprentices where consumed with the pursuit of the philosopher stone. But after devout dedication, alchemy has moved from an accepted science to a place in Mysticism. Is Alchemy a valid modern science? Should a Freemason spend his time trying to unlock its secrets? Join Brother Katie Cumsille as she leads us on a journey through the exploration of Alchemy and modern science.
This group for men and women, which is open to the public, is where non-members can learn more about Freemasonry, as well as meet local Freemasons.
