On January, 4 2014 at 1:45 P.M. the Masonic Philosophical Society will be hosting a study group at the Whitestone Masonic Temple. Each month a different topic, ranging from philosophy and science to religion and metaphysics, is discussed and debated.
January's topic will be conducted by Brother Lylia Gonzalezfrayle on Exoteric vs Esoteric Perspectives. After a short lecture a discussion and debate by the group will follow.
Exoteric (latin exotericus, from Greek exoterikos, literally, external) relates to common sense and it is independent from anyone's experience. It does not require a transformation of consciousness. This includes the scientific - materialistic and the literal or conventional religious perspective.
The opposite of Exoteric is Esoteric (Late Latin esotericus, from Greek esōterikos, esō within) can be defined as the contemplative, meditative and beyond the usual limits of ego or personality. It can only be understood by intuition or higher mental or altered states of consciousness.
Which one is more useful?
Join us for this month's study group as we examine ourselves under our own microscope.
This group, which is open to the public, is where non-members can learn more about Freemasonry, as well as meet local Freemasons.
