The GM of Amazon's AWS Marketplace, and the founder of 1M/1M initiative for entrepreneurs, are our speakers this month. Sajai Krishnan of Amazon AWS Marketplace will share details how ISVs, startups, and larger firms, are adopting cloud models and benefiting.  He will also share his insights on the AWS Marketplace which provides software innovators an easy way to deliver their products in the cloud with a SaaS customer experience. Sramana Mitra of 1M/1M will share her experiences as an entrepreneur and adviser, and her thoughts on startup business models, including freemium.

Sajai Krishnan

AWS Marketplace is helping customers and ISVs fundamentally rethink how software is consumed in the cloud. Sajai has been in GM and CEO roles in areas spanning cloud computing, data storage, software and B2B e-commerce.  Prior to his current role at AWS, he was a startup CEO at Arkologic, a flash storage appliance company, and at ParaScale, a software-defined storage pioneer. He was also  a GM for a couple of business units at Network Appliance. Early in his career he was a Vice President and Officer at the management consulting firm Booz∙Allen & Hamilton serving the communications and technology industry. He is a graduate of the Wharton School of Business, holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Rice University, and a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from IIT.

Founder, One Million by One Million (1M/1M)

The One Million by One Million (1M/1M) initiative is an educational, business development and incubation program that aims to help one million entrepreneurs globally to reach $1 million in revenue and beyond. Sramana is a Silicon Valley entrepreneur and strategy consultant who blogs at Sramana Mitra On Strategy. She also authored the Entrepreneur Journeys book series and Vision India 2020. From 2008 to 2010, Sramana was a columnist for Forbes. As an entrepreneur and CEO, she ran three companies: DAIS, Intarka, and Uuma. She has a master's degree in EECS from MIT.

Kachingle is a bundling and billing platform for applications and content built on a usage-based micropayment engine. Cynthia is a serial entrepreneur who previously founded RealCommunities and GolfWeb, acquired by CBS Sportsline. Prior to this she was director of software management and marketing at Sun Microsystems. She started her career as a software developer at BofA in SF. She has an undergraduate degree in science from UC Berkeley, where she also attended grad school in computer science. She also has an MBA from MIT.

Our meetup started by discussing Freemium pricing and business models. We have evolved to discuss pricing models and monetization for Apps and Software as a Service initiatives. Attendees can question speakers and discuss with peers the pros and cons of different pricing and marketing strategies for software and services.

We hold the meetup in Silicon Valley on the even months, and in San Francisco on the odd months.
