Makerspace Open House

Freeside Atlanta is a Nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a space for engineers, programmers, inventors, artists, and lunatics to collaborate. We host this meeting every Tuesday so that people can check out the space, chat with members of the organization, and get together to plan projects, events, and classes.

This is a pretty informal meetup, so don't expect to have to sit through a long, drawn-out meeting. Just be prepared to hang out for a bit with some interesting folks around a bunch of fascinating equipment.

You can get the gate code by emailing [masked] with the subject "gatecode"

You can also get a preview of our space by checking out our photo tour page on Meetup.

Directions -

The Space is in the Metropolitan Warehouse complex on Metropolitan Pkwy near Ralph David Abernathy Blvd, and you can do one of two things to get to it after entering the gates of the complex -

1 - Take a right after entering the gate, then your first left, which is the back side of the complex

2 - To get to the front door, take the first right shown on the map. To get to the auto bay doors, take the second right shown and drive around to the back side of the complex.

Overview of the warehouse complex directions found on our wiki.

Street View of the front entrance.

In college, I never really hung-out with my fellow engineering students. I liked the artist, photographers, and of course… dancers. Once working… although comfortable doing the hard-core analysis, I took every opportunity I could to work directly with the technicians. Again, it was far more enjoyable interacting with “real” people. FreeSide feels like the best of both. Free spirited and analytical… all in one relatively cohesive group. These people really know how to think outside the box. Truth be told… I don’t think they could find the box if their lives depended on it. A real creative melting pot!

Can anyone help me out with the gate code? I emailed the address listed but got no response. Thanks!

Since I saw you there, I guess you found an answer in time. Being new also, I'm not sure how often that gate code changes... if it does change... besides the address [masked], you need to have a subject line of "gatecode". Their server detects it and responds. Without it... it assumes you're emailing a person.

I put "gatecode" in my subject line but maybe my email ate the response...thanks for the advice though and glad we made it!
