Introduction to Desktop 3D Printing

If this class fills up, we will open a second run-through of it on Thursday, May 16th. The two classes will cover the same material, so there is no need to register for both.

Gabe Ochoa, Programs Director for the Invention Studio at Ga Tech, has offered to come teach a class about 3D printers. The Invention Studio has 8 consumer 3D printers and 3 that are professional-grade, so Gabe has some experience with keeping these things going!

In this class you will get a introduction to Desktop 3D Printing by looking at how 3D printing works, how to find part files to 3D print, how to make your own 3D printed parts, and how to run and maintenance your own 3D printer! In addition, you will get a 3D printed part to take home with you. This class will answer the what and how of 3D printing. No prior knowledge required.

The class is $20 + $10 for materials, but everyone should leave with a 3D printed part of some kind. However, we will not be able to scan objects that students bring in to print.

Great information & coverage of the basics.

A little nervous as this is my first experience with 3-D printing, but curiosity & excitement about this subject trump my insecurities. I see there is a gate code. Anything else needed to get into the building?

Nope. We'll have the door propped open for you when you get there. Have fun!

I have registered for the Thursday class but if I can get out of the office early enough, is it OK if I bring my ticket with conf # to the Wed class in lieu of going to the Thu. class?

Sure, I can sort that out for you.

Looking for experience on operating 3d printer so this class idea is great. I will attend.

FYI - We'll probably have a Replicator 2 and 2 Lulzbots for this class.
