Freeside Laser: Basic Usage and Safety Session 1

Learn how to use Freeside's Laser Engraver/Cutter (http://wiki.freesideatlanta.org/fs/Laser_Cutter). You'll learn how to use the software toolchains to cut or engrave vector and bitmap artwork into a variety of material. We'll cover machine setup, laser safety and more. The class will be approximately 3 hours of lecture and demonstrations. After the class, Freeside members will then be able to schedule up to an hour of one-on-one time with an instructor to supervise and assist them with their first laser project, and receive sign-off to use the laser.

Not yet a member of Freeside? You can still take this class to learn the basics of CNC machine operation, all about how our laser works, and you may have an opportunity to operate the laser when participating in a public project in the future. You also won't have to wait for another session after becoming a member to be on the approved laser users list.

Price: $50 non-member/ $40 dues paying Freeside member

Materials: Class demonstration materials included. Student to provide their own materials for one-on-one session (discuss with the instructor when scheduling one-on-one)

Size: 8 per class

Session 1: Saturday February 22nd, 1PM-4PM

Session 2: TBS (Looking for an open weeknight)

Each session is a repeat of the same material. You only need to sign up for one session.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
