What Theresa M. is saying about this Meetup Group

I was a little hesitant to attend an atheist event because I didn't want to get into lengthy, boring discussions about the tired old arguments that both sides overuse. I was pleasantly surprised to hear Wendita talk about getting involved in charity and community events. I would like to see more community involvement and even activism from the atheist community. Many of my religious friends and family still believe that atheists are hedonistic bastards naively choosing to spend eternity in hell. I hate being categorized by something I don't believe, but if we aren't visible we allow those who don't understand to define us. It's time for intelligent people who care about the world we live in, and truth, to stand up and be visible! I would like to know that the kids growing up today to become professionals tomorrow understand how to think critically.
