Mission statement design

At our last meeting our attempt to approve a FANM mission statement stalled with an unresolved discussion of how we describe ourselves (Atheist-Freethinker-Humanist-etc). Our new attendee, Gary suggested that we simply use the term "Secular Citizen". That proposed mission statement was as follows; • Building a local network of non-religious persons and coordinate with similar groups to make our efforts more effective. • Defend and promote the separation of church and state • Increasing public understanding and acceptance of atheists, freethinkers & secular humanists • Providing a forum for the discussion of secular issues • Advancing critical thinking and secular viewpoints • Promote Science, Knowledge and Reason as positive alternatives to religion and dogma • Sharing news and information related to atheism, freethought & humanism • Participating in social activities, community service & humanitarian projects Let's see how this polling works by voting on these possible choices.
