Black Friday Weekend Book Signing and $ale at Newpark Mall

Fremont Area Writers is holding its first Book Signing and Sale at the Newpark Mall! FAW and CWC members will be selling their books in Newark during the biggest shopping weekend of the year. Come and support your fellow writers and do a little holiday shopping yourself.

If you have books to sell, there are still spots open on a first come, first served basis. Contact us through Meetup for more details.

Here is a press release:

Thanksgiving is approaching, and you know what that means. No, not just turkey. It’s time to start thinking about holiday gift buying. Why not get an early start by buying a personalized gift, an autographed book written by a Bay Area author? You can do it at the Black Friday Weekend book signing and sale sponsored by Fremont Area Writers at NewPark Mall in Newark Nov. 29-Dec. 1. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Exact location to be determined.

More than a dozen talented authors will be on hand to discuss, sign, and sell their work on a variety of subjects including mystery, thriller, humor, religion, art, science, history, poetry, and memoir. Writers present will include Nancy Curteman, Robert Garfinkle, Carol Hall, Jan Small, Florence Miller, Tony Pino, Marjorie Bicknell Johnson, Doris Nikolaidis, Robert M. Davis, Arthur Carey, Shannon Brown, Penelope Cole, Rita Beach, Tova Dian Dean, Elena Martina and more.

Take a break from shopping to get a free bookmark, enjoy a candy pick-me-up and leisurely browse for a gift that can be enjoyed and passed on for continuing pleasure.

The signing was held at a good location with plenty of foot traffic. Some authors sold a lot of books while others only sold one or none. Some authors were more proactive in attracting people to their table while others were more laid back. But it's not just about selling books, it's also about meeting people. I met a lot of writers I didn't know before and some people stopped by the tables to learn more about FAW. I thought it was a great experience.

You first must become an official member of Fremont Area Writers or be a member of any other California Writers Club branch. Our MeetUp group is a doorway to the Fremont Area Writers branch of the California Writers Club. Joining this MeetUp does not make you a member of the CWC. If you click on the "About Us" link on the left side of our Meetup home page, it explains this. Visit our website for information about becoming a club member, www.cwc-fremontareawriters.org. Yearly dues are $65 for new members and $45 for returning members.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
