French Writing Workshop

The Alliance Francaise is conducting French Writing classes. However they are quite expensive. Let's do our own writing workshop. We can each do a 500 word write out that we can share with each other and critique.

Date is Sat 8 Feb 2014 @ 2.30 p.m Alliance Francaise Cafe 2nd Level.

I see a lot of potential for self-development if we pursue this path. Both in terms of our French and our path in life. Great idea to start this Gwen. Thank you.

Hi there, sorry for the late notice, but I've pushed back the meet up time to 2.30 p.m to avoid the lunch crowd. Hope that is ok for everyone. Please let us know if you have any change in plans and will not be able to make it. Meanwhile wishing you happy writing and hope to see you tomorrow. My hp no. is 96422185. Do remember to make a few more copies of your work for the rest to share.

Hi there, I spoke to the cafe and they have confirmed that Sat lunch is indeed very crowded. As such I was thinking that we could meet at St. Andrew's Cathedral instead. The church is a heritage site and sits on large open grounds. It is directly above City Hall MRT station. There is a tent under which there are some tables and chairs. It is quiet and the last time I went, not very crowded. However if you have not eaten, you would need to pack some lunch which can be bought around the area. Do let me know if you think its a better venue.

hi amelia, at moment it's stilll 12.30. i will call the
cafe after CNY to check if they expect it to be very
crowded and will confirm again. At worse as you
suggested we can change the venue. Happy festive
    weekend .

I can only make it before 2pm. If the
crowd is a problem, maybe we can meet
elsewhere. If 230is better for everyone
then I'll have to pass. No worries.

hi jaya, thanks for your observation. Could I put it to
the rest if they would prefer if the meet up was
pushed to 2.30 p.m. On my end its ok, what would
    the rest prefer?

Sat 12 to 2.30pm is peak time at AF cafe. Perhaps better to start at 2.30 when students are in class and the cafe becomes quiet again?

Hi I've changed the location to the Alliance cafe and the timing to lunch for 8 Feb. Hope to see you all there.

I like AF cafe because it's quiet but the cafe closes at 5.30pm on Saturdays and 8.30pm on weekdays. So we may have to schedule an earlier timing.
Cedele at City Square Mall is relatively quiet and there's always enough empty tables so could be a good alternative.

I tried scheduling the time above but the calander showing on my computer is year 2002. Would appreciate if anyone is able to put in the date and time from your end.

Thanks Parvel for reminding. Apologies for the late reply, I have scheduled the date and time for the meetup for after Chinese New Year. I thought of keeping the location at Alliance Francaise for familiarity and accessibility though if anyone would rather the Mushroom Cafe or any other place please let me know.

Also if you think we should have a specific topic for writing or if we should keep it free and open. Since its still a few weeks to go, the discussion is still open. On a logistic front, as with such activities, each member would need to print out sufficient no. of copies of their writing to be passed round.

After CNY I can make it on Saturdays from 7pm, or any time on Sundays :)

Sounds wonderful Pavel. I am going to suggest February 8th or 9th (Saturday & Sunday) for our meetup.

I suggested a place for the meetup. It is in the park. fresh air, monkeys, not expensive, always free tables. Change it if it is not convenient to get to it.

I am going to suggest that we plan this for after CNY
