Let’s face it, sooner or later you have to stand up for yourself. You gotta stand up to your mother, your boss, your kids, your neighbor with the stereo, the guy across the street with all the dogs. There’s a point where you just can’t take it any more.
And that’s the story you have to bring to the next Fresh Ground Stories.
Tell us a true story about a time you either stood up for yourself or just got pushed to the edge and had to do something about it.
The rules for stories are below but you know the kind we’re looking for: true stories that happened to you that still mean something to you days, months or even years later.
Best advice I can give you? Practice out loud. It’s awkward, I know. My last girlfriend almost canceled our first date because she saw me the day before waving my arms and talking to myself on the corner of 5th and Capitol here in Olympia. If you’re shy, practice in your living room. Not in the shower, though. Showers are slippery. No need to hurt yourself.
I hope to see you at our next show on Thursday, April 25th, 7:00pm at the Roy St Cafe. You can read the rules/guidelines for storytelling here:
