Announcing a new Meetup for The Moth Seattle Storytelling Meetup Group!

What: MothUP SEATTLE 13: Story theme: Rites of Passage
When: Thursday, July 28, 2011 7:00 PM

Where: Roy Street Coffee & Tea
700 Broadway East -
Seattle, WA 98102

Rites of passage. Oh. So many of those. Girl Scouts. A first kiss. Prom. Graduation. Getting your first dog. Marriage. Divorce. Getting your driver's license. Getting a speeding ticket. Having a baby. Being 'roasted'. Or maybe there's a weird rite of passage in your family or among your friends. we want to hear about that.

Remember - MothUP is continuing every 4th Thursday (except in Nov and Dec, it's the second thursday) - - at 7 pm at Roy St. Check out our facebook page (which is free to maintain, as opposed to this meetup board, which is not free, and which i am stepping down from organizing because of cost). or - be sure to email me and get on the email list.

Please respect your fellow story tellers and the audience by adhering to the format and the time limits.

For mat review!

1. This is a TRUE story that *happened to you*.
Your story has a BEGINNING and an ENDING.
Maybe you learned a lesson. Or you changed.

Tell us what happened to you, and make sure we know what the point of your story is. Why do you want to tell us this story?

2. No Notes allowed.

3. Another comment about Time limits.

To help you not run over time - a visual timer and audio cue at 10 mins will be provided. We just want to be fair. Sometimes at events the number of tellers seems to perfectly fit the time window, sometimes not. Get your name in the hat at the beginning of the event to have your best chance at getting to tell :)

Our awesome audience gives the storytellers a warm and supportive environment for sharing, and our storytellers support the audience by adhering to format and respecting time limits.

We have reached the point where occasionally, not everyone who brings a story gets to tell it. but our themes are broad. If you don't get to tell your story one month - you can tweak it to fit the theme of another month.

Advice to enhance the probability you'll get to tell your story:
- come early - make sure your name is in the hat at the beginning of the event.

We are officially registered as a MothUP group with the Moth.
