I have spoken with the folks over at Ferry Farm. The Trolley runs every half hour to and from the farm from our meeting place at Chatham Square. The admission price on the day of the reenactment will be either $8.00 or $10.00 per person. I was given two different prices by two different people that work there. This is the 150th celebration of the battle of Fredericksburg so it will be a very large turn out. Cary has stated that they are expecting 1500 reenactors. Make sure to charge up your batteries, this should be a lot of fun!
On Saturday, December 8th from 10:00 to 11:00, Civil War reenactors at Ferry Farm will portray the shelling of Fredericksburg and the pontoon crossing of the Rappahannock. Hundreds of Union troops will be encamped at Ferry Farm and living-history interpreters at Ferry Farm will give ongoing demonstrations.
Seems like a great event to practice your portraits or your black and white photography. Should be plenty to shoot!
Due to the festivities there will be no parking at Ferry Farm on Saturday but parking is available in downtown Fredericksburg and at Chatham Square Shopping Center (411 Chatham Heights Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22405). Trolleys will transport visitors and reenactors to/from Ferry Farm and Fredericksburg at no charge.
