About Central Valley Alliance of Atheists and Skeptics

The Central Valley Alliance of Atheists and Skeptics is formed as a nonprofit educational association focused on the population of the California Central Valley in order to promote secular viewpoints in public discourse, educate the public on the use of rational scientific inquiry and positive secular philosophy, promote the First Amendment guarantee of separation of state and church, urge camaraderie among the secular community and their supporters, and encourage joining or forming affiliated non-theistic organizations.

We act as a "Secular Voice in the California Central Valley", where we remind everyone that the religious majority can not and does not speak for everyone.

We speak up to promote rational thinking, we speak up to promote science, we speak out against pseudoscience, and we speak up to promote the separation of state and church.

CVAAS strives to be a welcoming environment for Atheists, Skeptics, Secular Humanists, Agnostics, Freethinkers, Brights, and anyone else who supports science and / or a positive secular philosophy.

We are growing quickly, and became an official organization on May 4th, 2008. We've already had some major accomplishments.

You can explore this meetup site, but for timely news and announcements please visit our primary website at www.cvaas.org.

The Central Valley Alliance of Atheists and Skeptics also hosts the Rational Valley online forum. This forum has taken over from the Meetup.com message board. You are welcome to sign up there and post about topics of interest to the group.

CVAAS also sponsors a monthly podcast called "Rational Horizon". You can listen to the Rational Horizon podcast by visiting the Rational Horizon website.

We encourage you to join us, online or in person. Perhaps together we can learn how to show that doubt and dissent are values that should be encouraged in America.
