Study the aquatic biota and turtles of the Quackenkill backwater slough

Quaken Kill Marshes; Backwater Slough, Grafton, Rensselaer Co. We will focus on aquatic biota of a Backwater Slough community attached to the Quaken Kill and trying to locate county-rare wood turtles at the site. We should see several submerged, floating, and emergent plants as well as mudflat species. Deep muck and knee-deep water probable. Meet at David's house at 348 Jay Hakes Road, 1 mile S of NY Route 2 (Go 1 mile E of Brunswick/Grafton town line on Rt. 2 to Jay Hakes Road just past Al's Truck Caps; white house on left side with sky blue mailbox, park in driveway).     Had to cancel :-(... have to make a trip north for family. I do hope more outings are in the future out here in the Taconic Valley area - I was so happy to find this one and not have to travel very far.
