This will be the first meet-up of the Friendly Girly friends (North) book group!! yay!!
The lovely Viki will be running this group! Same details as the Thursday group:
I'm going to suggest The Book Thief by Markus Zusak as the first book:
Paper copy - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Book-Thief-Markus-Zusak/dp/0552773891
Kindle - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Book-Thief-Markus-Zusak-ebook/dp/B0031R5K72/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1405255875&sr=1-1&keywords=the+book+thief
We will meet mid-August (which gives us plenty of time!) and share our thoughts on this novel.
Location TBC closer to the time, but will try to be as central.....
I am limiting this group to 12 (very sorry, as it would be lovely to have EVERYONE, but that may get difficult).
Any questions, feel free to e-mail us :)

I'm soo sorry for the late reply - been a very busy week and I haven't managed to read one page, let alone the whole book. Hope you had a good time and I'll try and come to the next one although I can only arrive for 8pm for the next two Tuesdays x

Hi, Half way through the book, enjoying it a lot. Hope I can finish it by next week! Looking forward to meeting you all

Looking forward to seeing you next week. Just finished the book and loved it! I'll get a few nibbles in and if we want to make it a book club with wine or similar there is a Tesco Express on my development (nice and handy:-) ).
Directions-Come out of Colindale Tube, turn left and walk up to roundabout. Turn right onto Aerodrome road and walk up until you see the main Beaufort Park entrance - you can't miss it-has the Jun Ming Xuan Chinese restaurant on corner-walk just past that and you will see a bus stop-my entrance is just there. You can also get the 186 bus to this bus stop. Don't want to put flat number on here but if you drop me an email at [masked] I'll email you back with flat name, number and mobile.

Sorry I have not been able to get the book from the library. I am sorry to miss such an interesting evening that is local.

I reserved my book at the library and picked it up today. May not finish it all in time as I'm finishing Game of Thrones atm (which as you may know is 800 pages!) but is it still alright to come along?

Hi Eva, of course you can still come as long as you don't mind finding out what happens at the end. Gotta say having read GOT I'm enjoying The Book Thief far more so I'd say read that first:-) First few pages a bit strange but then becomes very readable. Look forward to seeing you on the 19th x

I'm so sorry, I live in South London so this is not a good location for me either :((

The location is not convenient for me to get to by tube. Hope I can attend the next one

I live in Totteridge & Whetstone. Collindale very much opposite direction on the tube for me. Not having much luck here, South all booked out, North a long journey home... :-(
That's a real shame Karen:-( I used to live there too! So close yet the bloody tube split makes it so far if you need to come by tube. May be worth asking if anyone else is driving from that side?
Yay so glad for this group! I live in Wembley atm so this is so convenient. Thankyou! :)

Hi all, have noted interest on the other book group, but may switch depending on location. Would be great to meet you all.

Posted too early! Hope to meet you soon,Viki
Hi Everyone:-)Sorry for being so quiet-have been away and offline all weekend. Very excited about this and received my book yesterday!!
As the equally lovely Sophie has said I will be hosting the first group. Unless there are any major objections I'm going to suggest we use my flat as it's nice and quiet (noisy venues are a complete no no for me), I have lots of seating, and I promise to play hostess with the mostess and bake some fairy cakes or similar! I am a couple of minutes walk from Colindale tube station on the Northern line (will send exact details later). Hope that's easy for you to get to.
If this is prohibitive for anyone do say and suggest alternative but would need to be a quiet location so public spaces not so good (unless outdoors and sunny:-) )
Looking forward to meeting you all
This is a group for women from all walks of life to get together and meet new girly friends. We will have a mixture of events run by me or other members of the group.
If you have a good idea and would like to run an event, please feel free to schedule it in this group.
This group will run attendance monitoring and if you
-don't turn up without changing your RSVP status ( at least 48h before the event)
-change your RSVP status on the day of the event or with less that 48h notice
and repeat all the above 3 times per year ( I understand there are situations in life when you just have to cancel last minute, but I think giving 3 chances for that is fair)
I will, sadly, have to remove you from the group. Lets be friendly and considerate and we can turn this group into an excellent tool for meeting new friends.
