Spend Memorial Day in VICTORIAN BROOKLYN HEIGHTS!

Memorial Day was started to honor Civil War fallen, so Brooklyn Heights, bastion of abolitionism, is a very appropriate site for today's walking tour. But our tour is far from somber as we stroll the lovely streets with flower boxes in full bloom for Spring, and explore this fascinating neighborhood. Visit the exquisite Brooklyn Heights and hear how some canny 19th century landowners parlayed their holdings into the first suburb; how a congregational schism ultimately put Abraham Lincoln in the White House; and how the American Revolution almost came to a screeching halt right on the cliffs of Brooklyn Heights. With over 600 pre-Civil War buildings, Brooklyn Heights is sure to lull you into believing that you have stepped back into an earlier--but not always simpler--time of fiery abolitionists and elegant Victorian townhouses. Where to meet: Meet by the front steps of Brooklyn Borough Hall, Court and Remsen streets. Take the 2,3,4,5 to "Borough Hall" or M,N,R to "Court Street". When to meet: 12:45pm for a 1pm start. I will be holding a sign that says "Victorian Brooklyn Heights Tour". Fee: $15 cash, exact change appreciated! Friendly Native tours run rain or shine!

This was a really fun tour. Linda really knows a great deal of history about the area and presented the information in a really animated way. I really enjoyed learning about the history and the people who were key figures in the area. Linda's tour made the history of the area come to life.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
