RIDE TO HELP BABIES
LUNCH – PRIZES – SILENT AUCTION
Every day, nearly 1 in 8 babies are born too soon. Prematurity is the #1 cause of newborn mortality. The numbers are too high.
Coffee and coffeecake provided by March of Dimes at the start of the ride.
Meet & Register: 8:00a for coffee, pastries and hugs
Safety Talk: 8:45a
Mount Up: 9:00a
Includes lunch, attendance to the raffle & silent auction, and that warm fuzzy feeling of doing something good for babies. And did we mention it's tax-deductible?
• Donate in advance online on the team page or to a registered team member (like me!) or bring $ on the day of the event.
• Ride with us, sponsor us, or join the team and reach out to more people to help us meet our team goal.
• Raffle tix will be available at the event. There's more to come but we now have Road Rider and Armadillo Willies gift certificates!
The ride starts at the March for Babies festival in downtown San Jose. From there we'll head out into the Almaden Valley to our first bio break at Uvas Reservoir. Over 152 with a brief bit on Hwy 1 to Soquel, where we'll have a gas stop. Up the mountain on Soquel-SJ Road to Summit, head north to Hwy 9, and come down into Saratoga where we'll converge upon Mountain Mike's for pizza lunch & festivities.
Thank you for helping us give all babies a healthy start!
Why March of Dimes
I started ride this to honor my sons--the one many of you have met and the one who lives in my heart. My sons were born 14 weeks early. No one knows why.
March of Dimes works to fund important research and programs that help babies begin healthy lives. The MoD is the only health charity to have succeeded in its original mission -- developing the polio vaccine and all but eradicating polio worldwide. Other successes include the development of folic acid regimens for prenatal care, surfactant therapy for preemies (which saved my surviving son...), and education, especially to communities in need.
The Important and Fine Print
"All riders need a minimum of 1k recent and diverse miles experience to join a group ride. Always review a route to determine it's within your skills - we post a variety of rides to accommodate our varied riders. Your participation is acceptance of the liability release in the files section and confirmation that you are licensed and insured. Arrive at the meetup with a full tank of gas. You must be ready to ride at the time of the Safety Talk."
