Sunday, 10:30 am, at U of M Hanson Hall Room 103 - Back by popular demand
Looking to backpack BWCA or on Pukaskwa Coastal Trail in Ontario this summer? Martin Kubik will share his perspective on the big BWCA trails: Sioux Hustler, Pow Wow, Kekekabic and to our north neighbors in Ontario, the uber-scenic Pukaskwa Coastal Trail, that dead ends 40 miles in wilderness on shores of Lake Superior. You will see the incredible "whale back" bed rock of Sioux Hustler with its majestic 150 year old white and red pines, the challenging "Kek" with display of burn, storm damage (but coming back) and Pow Wow - burnt to nothing and ashes and currently a hot subject of BWAC advocacy to bring it back so that hikers can enjoy it. And the Ontario' Pukaskwa Trail will leave you breathless, with infinitely changing scenery of forest, sandy or rocky beaches, Canadian shield interlaced with glacial morains, challenging hills, and comfortable campsites. All that in 45 minutes - you owe it to yourself, RSVP today and be there for the adventure!
