Announcing a new Meetup for Friends of BWCA Trails!

What: Pre-Trip meeting: Crew Leader Workshop on Gunflint Trail Nov. 5-7

Interested in becoming a co-leader or improving your outdoor skills? Want to spend a long weekend on Gunflint Trail? Dinner at the Gunflint Lodge? Take sauna and dip in a lake to cool off? If any of these activities appeal to you, join us for a pre-trip orientation meeting after the ?Surviving the Kekekabic? talk at MM. Here is more information about the outdoor workshop weekend: Leave Thursday, November 4 late afternoon (or Friday), return on Sunday November 5. Cost: $75 includes three nights in a log cabin at Adventurous Christians (electricity, wood stove for heat, no running water, biffy outside, two bedrooms, and two lofts) and a Saturday dinner with US Forest Service at Gunflint Lodge. Your additional cost is car pooling, and food (bring your own or we share). Workshops may include topics of interest, i.e. map and compass, tree identification, trail standards and safety, hike in the forest and presentation on history of Gunflint Trail by a USFS speaker. Let?s discuss after the presentation at Expedition Room or at Town Hall Brewery. Sign up will be open first to crew or co-leaders, and then open to those interested in becoming a co-leader. Adventurous Christians is a pet free and tobacco/alcohol free facility. Limit 8, subject to approval.
