Calling all trail clearing volunteers:
Remember that wind storm we had a few weeks back? Well the Kekekabic Trail also had high winds which means fresh tree falls and your help is needed to remove them. We are planning a trail clearing trip on Dec. 10-12 and could use some more volunteers. We will be staying in the historic log cabin at East Bearskin Lake built in the 1930's by the CCC and heated by gas. This is a great opportunity to learn some of the skills of winter camping without actually sleeping outside.(although outside accommodations will be available) While spending 10-12 hours outside, you will experience the joys of the crosscut saw in cold weather, marvel at how blue the winter sky is (providing the sun is shining) learn cold weather travel skills. There will be much talk about winter camping. This is a great time to leave your comfort zone to travel and learn about winter conditions from winter camping experts, while helping clear the Kek. Curious about conditions? Check out the link on the meet up sign up page, or see a past trip at http://bwac.smugmug.com/Sports/Kekekabic-Trail-Clearing-Dec-6/6770308_fnnxY#[masked]_yFvuo
