Searching for signs of (wild)life

Thursday, May 23: Searching for signs of (wild)life
Join Ranger Bob Flasher on an easy, almost level walk of under 4 miles, from the Tilden Nature Area up Wildcat Canyon and along Jewel Lake. We’ll search for signs of wild inhabitants, from gopher holes and birds’ nests to coyote scat and mountain-lion scratching posts. Information: [masked].

Driving directions: From the intersection of Spruce, Grizzly Peak, and Wildcat Canyon, go down Canon Drive. At the end, turn left, north, on Central Park Drive and continue to the turnaround.

A delightful and level walk. Informative and revealing.

Malcolm, I know the way so had not linked to the map. You will do better by putting in "Tilden Park." The directions as given will lead you astray. Try "Tilden Regional Park Environmental Education Center" with no street or road indication as the "To:" and your starting point as the "From:"

I'm looking forward to it but the map link goes to a restaurant in Alameda. Anyone else have that experience?

Really looking forward to going to Tilden with adults! I raised my son partly up there (along with many of his friends!).

Sounds great. My first hike in the area, moving from MD. My sister is coming to visit from MD so it should be pretty special for us. I look forward to meeting the group.

I love these walks. I always learn the proper name of something I have looked at many times & also learn to see things I had overlooked.
