Volunteers needed for Kids to Parks Day

National Kids to Parks Day Schedule of Activities

Activity sign-ups for activities will be at each of the station and participants can sign up for open time slots.

Wagon Rides will have pick up and drop off locations near each activity. The wagon rides may take 30+ minutes to get from one end of the park to the other, so please plan accordingly. Activities with designated times will begin and end promptly. If you miss your time slot, you may be able to sign up for another time as slots are available.

Tree Climbing with Riverside Outfitters -- Location: Front Field
pre-registration required
Cost: $18/person for 2 hour climb and limb walk
Time: 3-5 p.m.
Parking: in front field with sign with interpreter at 2:30 p.m.; wagon rides will have a drop off location near by

Archery – Location: CCC Field
Available time slots for a max of 8 participants each:
Session 1: 10:15 – 11:30
Session 2: 11:45 – 1:00
Lunch Break: 1:00 – 1:45
Session 3: 1:45 – 3:00
Session 4: 3:15 – 4:30
Cost: no additional cost (all supplies provided)
Parking: at CCC field near bell; wagon rides will have a drop off location near by

Fishing with Department of Game and Inland Fisheries on Floating Fishing School – Location: Boat Dock
Available time slots for a max of 7 participants each:
Session 1: 10:15 – 11:30
Session 2: 11:45 – 1:00
Lunch Break: 1:00 – 1:45
Session 3: 1:45 – 3:00
Session 4: 3:15 – 4:30
Cost: no additional cost (all supplies provided)
Parking: Boat Ramp and picnic area near pool complex

Bouncy Houses – Location: open area near boat dock and playground
Available all day
Cost: no additional cost
Parking: Boat Ramp and picnic area near pool complex

Nature Art – Location: open area near boat dock and playground
Available all day
Cost: no additional cost

Mountain Bike Obstacle Course – Location: grassy area across from Nature Center
Available all day

Bike and Helmet should be brought by participants

Concessions – Location: Heritage Center area
Available 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Food: Hot dogs and condiments available
Cost: $3/meal?

Off the Ark – Location: Nature Center Area
Available 1-4 p.m.
Cost: no additional cost

Outdoor Games – Location: Grassy area at Amphitheater
Available 1-4 p.m.

Movin’ On Band – Location: Amphitheater

Heritage Center programs:
10:30 a.m. – Survival Skills including paracord bracelets (*$3/craft) and emergency shelter building

1:30 p.m. – Bluebirds in Pocahontas State Park
2:30 p.m. – Survival Skills (*same as above)

Twilight Canoe Paddle – Location: Boat Dock

Time: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Cost: $9/person or for families of 4 or more $6/person

Armed Forces Day Concert – Location: Amphitheater
Time: 7 p.m.
Cost: no additional fee
Parking: Large parking areas near picnic shelters 1-7

Self-guided programs include hiking the park trails and geocaching.
Various activities will be scheduled for the entire day and we'll need some help coordinating and also with set-up/take-down.
