  • Join us for breakfast & car pooling at the Swede Hollow Cafe. I'll be the person with the BRT tee shirt on unless it is really cold.
  • This Meetup will give those people signed up for the USFS safety & certification class on April 13th and/or one of the Spring trail mechanized trail maintenance trips a chance to become familiar with the use of the BRTA chain saws, brush-cutters, and other equipment beforehand.

You’ll experience excellent scenery, good food, camaraderie that can’t be beat, and the chance to learn a valuable life skill. After all, you never know when you might be driving down a back road and find a dead-fall blocking your path.

We’ll meet at the Swede Hollow Cafe, 725 7th St E, Saint Paul, MN and depart at 9:00AM sharp for the 60 mile van-pool ride to Plum City, WI where we have access to a plot of wooded land a bit north of town which provides an ideal practice site.

You can expect to get back to St. Paul no later than 6:00 pm.

The van-pool as well as safety gear and all equipment will be provided and funded by the BRTA. Those signed up for one of the April or May Border Route Trail Maintenance Trips will have priority.

Keep in mind that there are no drinking water or toilet facilities at the site that we’ll be going to. Please bring the following: a bag lunch, drinking water, TP, leather work gloves, hiking boots, personal meds, long pants, and rain gear. You may want to bring a day pack to carry your miscellaneous items.

In order to get a heads up on safe chain saw operation we suggest that you download a copy of the USFS Chain Saw and Crosscut Saw Training Course Student’s Guidebook.

Co-sponsored by the Border Route Trail Association, the Minnesota Rovers Outdoors Club and the Twin Cities Hiking Meetup Group.
