Friends of the GreenWay is an independent community group working to make a vibrant bushlined walking and cycling path, community meeting space and wildlife habitat connecting the banks of the Cooks River at Earlwood/Dulwich Hill and Sydney Harbour at Iron Cove, Leichhardt. The GreenWay runs next to the soon to be built inner west light rail extension to Dulwich Hill.
What is the GreenWay?
The 5km long GreenWay environmental corridor is a vital missing link in Sydney's walking and cycling network and will connect established off-road walking and bike tracks at the Bay Run for connections to Balmain and Drummoyne and Cooks River path for Cronulla, Strathfield and Homebush. The GreenWay is home to one of only two Sydney colonies of long-nosed bandicoot.
Our campaign to complete the GreenWay shared pathway continues... in the meantime we encourage you to get out and enjoy the GreenWay. Download: GreenWay Street Map
A shared walking and cycling pathway is only in place for the northern section of the GreenWay, so this map of the GreenWay shows some local streets to connect you from Cadigal Reserve in Summer Hill down to the Cooks River pathway, and back up again.
The map also shows locations of bushcare sites in the GreenWay, Hawthorne Canal, and the new light rail stops, set to be operating in 2014.
