Trails Less Traveled III: Bushwhacking the Andorra Plateau with Gerry Schweiger

The Andorra plateau contains the Andorra Nature Reserve with many well worn trails; but it also contains the abandoned Bell's Mill Trail.  We'll climb the plateau, go to the fenced exclosure and skirt that to the beginnings of the Old Bell's Mill Trail.  The trail goes approximately 3/4 of a mile through some interesting and instructive scenery.  We'll finish by reclimbing and crossing the plateau to our starting point.  NOTE:  There are lots of briers, brambles, fallen trees and loose scree to keep you on your toes; hikers should wear leather gloves or similar thorn resistant sturdy gloves.

Registration is recommended for all hikes so that you can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations.  Unless otherwise specified Trail Ambassador hikes may use rocky, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery.  Please wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks. Long pants are recommended for protection against occasional poison ivy and possible ticks.  Bring water and a snack if desired. Unless otherwise noted, children over 7 are welcome if accompanied by a responsible adult.  Walks are cancelled in heavy rain or icy conditions. For more information or to register contact Sarah Marley at [masked]. -
