The workshops are now suspended until the fall. We will now have a Sunday Social that will be hosted at different locations hopefully on outside patios. The warmer weather is now here and NO one wants to be inside.
We have a great line up of summer activities with FREE concerts and our Thursday night event at Drink. Also, we are working on some other fun outdoorsy types of things.
So we are not having the workshop or social this Sunday. The next Sunday, May 19th and every other week after that. I would have liked to have one on May 12 but that is Mother's Day.
I will be updating the calendar with the information on the Sunday Socials.
DISCLAIMER: I KNOW THAT THIS IS A VERY LONG E-MAIL. PRINT IT AND TAKE YOUR TIME READING IT. THIS IS AN OUTLINE OF THE ENTIRE WORKSHOPS AND LOTS OF INFO ON THE EVENT.
COME TO ONE WORKSHOP OR COME TO ALL. YOUR CHOICE!
Ever wonder how some people are so successful in online dating and finding mates?
Are you sick of dating and just want to make friends? Are you newly divorced or widowed and you are starting to think about dating?
Do you ever see some people with many opportunities to date that just don’t seem to come your way? Well there are answers to why this happens. We have the answers and we will share them with you!
Many of you are exasperated with dating. Online or offline. Some of you would like the opportunity to get some of that off your chest!! This will be the perfect forum for you to share that! Some of you simply are NOT dating because of how difficult dating is! Some of you have a great wealth of knowledge to share with those that are trying to date though!
This series of workshops has been designed with a comprehensive view of every aspect of dating.
ARE YOU A PAST MODERATOR AND WOULD YOU LIKE TO RETURN TO HOST A TABLE? PLEASE CONTACT FENA AT [masked].
IF YOU HAVE NOT MODERATED WITH OUR GROUP BEFORE AND ARE INTERESTED IN MODERATING, PLEASE CONTACT FENA AT [masked]
DOOR HELP. RUTH AND TERESA HAVE OFFERED TO HELP AT THE DOOR AND I AM NOT SURE HOW MANY SUNDAYS THEY ARE AVAILABLE, SO I AM LOOKING FOR A FEW PEOPLE THAT CAN WORK AN HOUR IN THE BEGINNING OF THE WORKSHOP CHECKING PEOPLE IN. THOSE PEOPLE WILL BE PAID $10 FOR THEIR WORK AND WILL ALSO GET INTO THE EVENT FREE FOR HELPING OUT.
IF YOU ARE NEW TO THE GROUP AND YOU DON'T KNOW ANYONE, PLEASE LET FENA OR LORI KNOW WHEN YOU ENTER. THERE WILL BE MEMBERS THAT ARE FRIENDLY AND WELCOMING AND THEY WILL ESCORT YOU AROUND THE ROOM AND INTRODUCE YOU TO OTHER MEMBERS UNTIL YOU FIND A GROUP OR SOMEONE THAT YOU FEEL
IF YOU ARE NEW AND YOU DON'T KNOW OUR MODERATORS, PLEASE LET FENA OR LORI KNOW THAT AND WE WILL MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET A TABLE THAT YOU WILL FEEL WELCOMED AND COMFORTABLE WITH.
If our numbers go over 30, we will also be offering a buffet and share dinner during our workshops. I am working with the GM of AlaCarte and the Manager of Moretti's Mt. Prospect, Jon, to provide a really nice buffet that will change from week to week.
We will also welcome deserts by our members. In some of the past workshops, members have made home made desert goodies to share after dinner. So that again will be welcomed!
Dinner is offered by Moretti's at $10. Our workshops are only $5. So the total at the door if you decide to have dinner is $15.00. FYI-we make no money on food but we think this is a great service to our members!
Many times after the workshops are over, people linger over their tables much like a dinner party at home.
As a matter of fact, when some people leave, others start to group at a couple of tables and it is exactly like a home dinner party! Good friends, good food, good drink and GREAT conversations and laughter!
If you are new to the group and have never been to our workshops, please don't be scared! The people are friendly, welcoming, kind and fun!
The workshops are designed to share and learn not only from OUR materials below but also from your fellow table mates and your Moderator! YOUR input is wanted and welcomed!
Remember, these workshops are YOUR workshops and YOU help make them a success! This is your opportunity to talk and be heard and to hear what others have to share.
RULES OF THE WORKSHOPS:
The first 45 minutes are social. When you enter, go directly to the moderators table that you want to sit with. At each table, there will be templates set up so you can find your moderator's table. At each place setting there will be blank sheets of paper and a marker on the table. WRITE YOUR NAME ON THAT SHEET TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT AND THEN HEAD TO GET A DRINK AND SOCIALIZE!
PLEASE BE ON TIME-LATE ATTENDEES DISRUPT TABLES ALREADY IN PROCESS.
NO ILL TEMPERS OR LOUD VOICES. EVERYONE HAS AN OPINION AND WHILE YOU MAY NOT AGREE, IT IS THEIR OPINION. LIVE AND LET LIVE.
EVERYONE, I MEAN EVERYONE, GETS AN OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE. IF YOU ARE DOMINATING THE CONVERSATION, YOUR MODERATOR WILL HOLD UP HIS/HER HAND TO SIGNAL THAT YOU ARE TO STOP AND LET OTHERS SHARE.
IF YOU BECOME A PROBLEM, THE MODERATOR WILL SAY SOMETHING TO ME AND THEN I WILL STEP IN. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED AND I HATE TO EVEN MENTION THE NEGATIVE STUFF BUT I HAVE TO. 99 % OF THE TIME EVERYONE HAS THEIR "COMPANY" MANNERS ON AND KNOWS HOW TO BEHAVE. EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, SOMEONE SHOWS UP AND DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS. THIS IS A LARGE PUBLIC GROUP AND PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE. WE CAN'T CONTROL EVERYTHING.
PLEASE RESPECT THE LEADERSHIP OF YOUR MODERATOR. THEY ARE THERE TO INSURE THAT ALL OF YOU HAVE A GREAT TIME, TO LEAD AND TO SHARE AS WELL. WHILE I DO COMP THEIR MEALS AND GIVE THEM A DRINK, THESE ARE NOT PAID POSITIONS! SO REALIZE THAT THEY ARE THERE GIVING THEIR TIME. RESPECT THAT PLEASE!
THANK YOUR MODERATOR FOR GIVING THEIR TIME AND ENERGY TO HOST YOUR TABLE. IT WOULD NOT BE OUT OF THE REALM OF THINKING THAT AS A GROUP, YOU COULD BUY YOUR MODERATOR A BEVERAGE.
IF YOU DO NOT LIKE YOUR TABLE AND FEEL THAT IT IS NOT THE RIGHT GROUP FOR YOU, PLEASE SEE ME AND I WILL MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET INTO A TABLE THAT MORE SUITS YOU. YOU CAN LEAVE A TABLE AT ANY TIME!
WE WANT EACH OF YOU TO HAVE A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE SO, FINDING THE RIGHT TABLE AND GROUP OF PEOPLE TO SHARE SEVERAL HOURS WITH IS IMPORTANT.
AS IN PAST WORKSHOPS, MEMBERS OF A TABLE HAVE BROUGHT SNACKS TO SHARE WITH THEIR TABLE. LORI BROUGHT CHOCOLATES, OTHER BROUGHT M&M'S AND OTHER GOOD THINGS. YOU ARE YOUR OWN LITTLE COMMUNITY AT YOUR TABLE. MAKE IT SPECIAL! REMEMBER YOU WILL BE DINING LATER SO DON'T MAKE THE SNACKS TOO FILLING. CHIPS, CANDY BITES AND SUCH ARE GOOD.
OTHERS HAVE COME TO PAST WORKSHOPS AND HAVE FORMED GREAT FRIENDSHIPS WITH OTHER MEMBERS AND A PARTICULAR MODERATOR. SOME OF THE MODERATORS HAVE THEIR OWN "CELEBRITY" AND HAVE THEIR OWN FOLLOWERS.
FIND A GROUP THAT YOU LIKE AND STICK WITH THEM. THEY ALL BECOME FRIENDS, BOND AND SOMETIMES DO THINGS TOGETHER OUTSIDE OF THE GROUP!
COMMENTS-POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE SHOULD ALWAYS BE DIRECTED TO FENA. IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING GOOD TO SHARE WITH YOUR MODERATOR THAT IS POSITIVE, PLEASE TELL THEM. IF IT IS NEGATIVE, IT COMES TO FENA.
Fena will give you an overall hard cold facts of dating and explain to you WHY we are doing this workshop. Many of you already know Lori Gilbert but I will be introducing her again to the group. Lori and I will share with you some tidbits of great news! Lori then will introduce all the moderators to the group.
Also, Lori will be hosting her weekly chat in the chat room and the subject will now be DATING and STARTING OVER.
Then we will roll up our sleeves and get into our groups and dig into the tasks of DATING!

Week 2: Getting Ready, Do Your Homework

How to read other’s profiles and know what the red flags are by what they write. Why are some profiles so good and why are some so bad?
How do you write yours to help you and not hurt you? What are the things that you need to have in YOUR profile and what are the things that you should be looking for in other's profiles?
Week 3: Edumacating yourself in preparation for dating of person you should be seeking
Yes, I did write EDUMACATING! That is a fun word that was created by a couple of friends!
Two workshops that will be offered by two people, one outside of our group and one a member of our group!
THE WORD-a workshop by Jeannie Brown, one of our members who wrote the book, The Word. A book/workshop designed to help you understand WHAT and WHO you are all about and once discovered, it will help you know how to select the right person that fits you.

Week 4: Where are you going and who do you want to take along with you?
ROAD MAPS-Created and written by Fena D’Ottavio
What is your road map? What highway are you taking to get to your final destination. Will you make a wrong turn and if so, where will you end up? Who is going along with you on this trip? Where is it that you want to be in your life, next month, 3 months from now, One year from now, 5 years from now and for the rest of your life? Do you want to be married? Do you want to live with someone? Do you want a committed relationship? How to quality your potential mate to see if you are on the same highway leading in the same direction on your road maps. Maybe you want marriage and the other person does not. Your road map will not match. You need to know this early on so that you are not wasting your time and later being hurt when you actually have feelings for this person and it is too late.
Week 5: Qualify and investigate your date
What are the steps to actually going on a date? We have created an outline on how to do this! You will also be discussing other points that should or should not be in there.
Qualifying Questions. We actually have created a template for you to follow!
Week 6: D-Day, Lift off-THE ACTUAL DATE
Questions to ask about the other person on the first date and questions to NOT ask.
Again, we have a template that we have created from experience!
Week 7: Successful Date-Unsuccessful Date
Birds are signing, colors are more vibrant and life is GREAT!
Oh my, how do we proceed and not screw things up once we have found someone that it looks like might actually have long term potential? Also,
Unsuccessful date, OH CRAP! How do I get myself out of this? It happens way too often! There are ways to get yourself out of those types of dates. We will teach you how!
Week 8: Making it work.
How do some have long lasting and successful relationships. There are answers and we will have some great stats and tips to share.
Also here you will be able to share with your group the things that you did that facilitated the demise of your past relationships and the things that you did that made past relationships work.
