Group B:     The Black Dog Group

This group is not yet filled!  If you want to join, please do so!

UPDATE on Black Dog group.  We are going to use a book while going through this workshop.  I have been reading and researching and have found a really great book that will help each of you understand what depression is and how it works and also how to combat it.  The book is "Change Your Brain, Change Your Life"  Daniel G. Amen M.D.   Click on this link and you will find many copies around $4.00.

Please try to have your book before the first meeting and if not, by the second.  Also, if you can't afford the book, just write to me and let me know and I will get you a copy.

Hi Friends,

Because of the number of letters that I received after
sending out the link about “the Black Dog”, I am forming a private workshop
called “The Black Dog Group”.

This will be a PRIVATE workshop held in my home with only 8-10 participants per workshop. Because this is a PRIVATE workshop, I will ask that you please write to me directly at [masked] to sign up for this workshop. If you are comfortable in RSVP’ing on the site, then by all means do so. If
not, just write to me to hold your place.

For those of you who don’t know what “the Black Dog” is,
please click on the link below to watch the short video.

Dealing with depression can be a debilitating thing. I have been there and personally know what
that is like. I am happy to say that I have learned how to beat/control the beast!
Oh yes, it does come back from time to time but I have the upper hand. He only gets me for a day or a few days at a time.

If I can learn this so can you. Please, if you are suffering, don’t go
through this alone. Can’t afford traditional therapy? Here is your answer. You will be among your peers and I will also reach out to professionals in our group to see if someone will want to sit in
and give professional advice. I am not a professional but I can tell you this….learning from others and sharing works. Just having someone hear you works. Learning what others do
works.

If you are not working and simply can’t afford this workshop, not to worry. I will waive the fee. No one needs to know this…just write to me and it stays between you and I. [masked]

Wear comfy clothes, shoes off at the door so make sure you
have socks on or bring your slippers.
Bring a SOFT drink…no alcohol during this event….bring a light snack to
share. I will have water and other
snacks to share.

BECAUSE THIS IS A PRIVATE WORKSHOP, I WILL ASK THAT EACH
PERSON PARTICIPATING READ AND SIGN THE UNDERSTANDING OF CONFIDENTIALITY. WHAT IS SAID IN THE WORKSHOP, WHO ATTENDS…STAYS
IN THE WORKSHOP. THIS IS NOT A LEGAL
DOCUMENT BUT AN UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT IS EXPECTED.

Are you a survivor of “The Black Dog” attack? If not, you can be! Just sign up.

All donations for this workshop will be donated to the
Lakota Heating Fund.

I was disappointed in the fact that we were asked to buy the book before this meeting which I did. It wasn't mentioned nor did we discuss. My opinion is that if we are going to hold a group of this type, we should stay on track. Of course, it's important for people to discuss their feelings and the week they've had, but the book wasn't even opened. Sorry; that disappointed me. Also, the meeting was supposed to end at 4:00. I thought we would eat by 4:00 since I had another plan for later. I was starving although it was very nice to that I was offered a doggie bag.

Let's talk about all this at the next meeting. The last thing that I want to happen is for someone to be disappointed and their needs not being met. Would you like to come to my house one evening and let's do a catch up session? Fena

Fena, I may not make it to the potluck. I have some things that must be done today. I will do my best.

Looking forward to conversations and fellowship. Got the book on my kindle. Not sure what I'll bring yet. but will let you know very soon. Thanks for an event like this. I believe this winter hasn't helped in the "mood" department :)
