Our member Al Theede has stepped up to host the free concert series in Elk Grove this year. That means that on Tuesday nights you will have a great summer activity that is totally FREE!
Meg Marshall and I will host the series out in Carol Stream on Thursday nights!
So pick the place that is nearest to you OR BOTH and come join us!
If anyone else wants to host one of the free concert series in their area, please contact [address removed]
Here is what happens....
Al will be there to hold our spot. You will find him by looking for the Friends First Banner flying on a flag pole. Meg is making our banner and we will be giving each organizer one for their events so that our members can find them.
Here is the fun part! You are going to need to get a few things together to go to these events! This is very much like going to Ravenia and if you plan ahead with friends and each of you bring something different, we all share food! So think classy, fun and pretty!
Here are some suggestions of things you might want to bring:
Blanket to sit on or folding chair
Picnic Basket or cooler---I have collected traditional picnic baskets and I just love to fill them up and take them to events such as this. Keep your eyes open at resale shops and garage sales. I have found some beauties. In each one, I have flatwear service for 4, 4 wine glasses, 4 plates, wine opener, cheese knives, napkins and anything else that I can think will be helpful. I usually carry this and a small cooler.
Love Ravenia style roll up or folding table
Bug spray if you have issues with skeeters
Hat to keep the sun off your brains.
Candles in the type of jar that has a top on it...so when you pack it away it will not spill.
Pretty or classy table cloth and napkins
Many of the towns restrict drinking, some not. Place your wine or drinks in a container that is not a wine bottle or liquor bottle. The Italians use short tumblers for wine instead of the traditional wine glasses...so look for some of those.
array of cheeses
grapes, melons, strawberries
crackers, chips, breads
any appetizer that will keep in warm weather or bring ice to rest in
soft drinks and water
alcoholic drinks of your choice
Remember you are meeting new people all the time so you will want to be comfortable and look good at the same time! Shorts, skirts, capris
Remember to have a jacket or sweater just in case it chills down at night.
An umbrella is also a good idea to keep in your bag.
Sun Screen is also a good thing to keep in your bag.
A small notebook to exchange phone numbers and e-mail addresses.
Each host/hostess will have name tags to help each of us identify people in our group!
So friends, plan ahead now and start putting together your Concert Baskets and be ready for our FREE concert series!
