Create Bangle Bracelets in Sterling or Red Brass

***Did not look at my calendar well enough when scheduling this. I have a family wedding in Louisiana on the 20th. Can all of you make it on the 27th instead of 20th. I could reschedule for the 27th of April which is the following Saturday. Let me know by email or a message here.***

Learn to measure, texture and solder sheet metal or wire run through the rolling mill into beautiful bangle bracelets. These can be personalized with messages or textured with chasing tools. Cost of the class Red Brass $60 Sterling $75. Skills learned: Fitting bangle bracelets, using a rolling mill to flatten or shape wire, texturing using chasing tools, soldering, polishing and finishing metal. Bangles can be made in widths of 1/4" to 3/8". See images with samples.

More information on class. The class allows for 2 bangles per student. All materials and most tools are supplied in that cost. Additional tools needed are listed below. If you are a beginner and have no tools I will share mine but you will have to take turns to use them which will take a bit longer to complete your project so plan accordingly.

Materials for additional bangles can be purchased if ordered ahead of time. Here is the breakdown on cost for additional bangles. If you wish to purchase additional bangles it will be necessary to email me at [masked] to tell me exactly what you want additional.

example: I would like to purchase materials for 2 additional sterling silver Rolled Wire Bangles at a cost of $40 and 2 additional Sterling Twisted Wire Bangles at a cost of $17.

Rolled Wire Bangles:

Sterling-  additional bangles will be $20 each

Silver Filled or Gold Filled: $15 per additional bracelet

Brass: $8 per additional bracelet

Twisted Wire Bangles:

I have heard from Dot and EJ about extra bracelets. If you wish to have materials for extra bracelets I must here from you before Monday evening. I will order materials on Tuesday. If I do not here from you I will assume you want to make the minimum but I still know if you want to use Copper, Brass or Sterling for your class project. Post here, Thanks!

To all members attending the bangle workshop on Sat. April 27th. Please read all details then email me at [masked] to let me know if you will be making the brass 1/4" wide or narrow wire bangles or if you chose the sterling narrow bangles. I must order the wire and metal sheet this week by Friday in order to make sure we have it in time for the class. If you wish to purchase extra to make more bangle I also must know that count also and the cost is listed above. Once I order for you you must pay for the supplies even if you are unable to attend the class. Please email ASAP Thanks for your attention to the details.

Great ....... I love working with copper and have some that I'd like to use to play with.......then while digging in my stash I found some silver wire...not sure the gage but will check it out......when I find it again, heehee!
Oh do you want me to anneal the copper before I come?
Do you anneal your wire before putting it thru the mill?

What tools do we need to bring....rawhide, etc.

    March 7, 2013

    • Susan M.

EJ yes you should have anything going through rolling mill annealed. You can bring you rawhide and any special texture hammers you may have. I will have mine to share also. When I have classes like these I either furnish everything or send a list to students in an email. I will send list for this class later.

EJ I used 12 g for the silver bangles. To put through rolling mill and still be thick enough it takes heavy wire nothing smaller than 14g for bangles. If you want to do twisted wire bangles then you can go between 20g to 16 g. Then to add the beads that should be 24g to 28g. Yes you can bring more supplies to practice.

  • E J B.

What gage wire will we be working with? Can we bring additional wire to play with?

    Another exciting class!
