This month's project is adding color to brass stampings with nail polish. I'm basing it on a DVD I just received where vintage brass pieces have been used and color added to bring out the detail and create a beautiful piece to feature in your jewelry. The variations are as endless as the many colors that nail polish is now available in. Imagine a butterfly or a scarab stamping painted in the many bright colors available, yellow, pink, blue, purple, red, green... the possibilities are endless. Leaves, flowers, art deco designs, all may be incorporated into focal pieces, earrings, necklaces, etc.
The price for this meetup will be $10, and include all supplies except the brass stamping. I will supply the steel wool, nail polish, gloves (so we don't walk away as colorful as our pieces :-) ), acetone, etc. You may either buy a stamping (or 2) at the meetup for my cost, or bring your own. A great place to look for stampings is ebay, search on brass stampings, or vintage brass jewelry.
Picture and supply list to follow.
NOTE: We have changed our meeting date to the 3rd Saturday each month at 1PM since we have some members who work on Saturday morning. It will be 1 to 4 PM. Please plan to discuss possible projects you would like to have in the future. As Susan is only going to be available for a short time we need to look at projects which may not need fire, and where the members have the tools they need to complete the project.
Great group, great fun! Join Us Soon.......
