Davey Montooth will be presenting about Designing for Conversions. Should be a great discussion and something we should all know more about.

Snacks and some beverages will be provided; feel free to bring anything to share or beers if you want them. We have a bar and refrigerator.

Schedule as follows:

• 5:30: show up & socialize

• 6:00:  15-30 min. presentation on topic

• 6:30-7: discussion & socialize

Looking forward to hanging out with you all again!

If you have suggestions on time/format for the following meetups, let me know!

There was a good question asked about breaking a long form up into steps. This is a good use case for doing so (check out suggestion #4) - http://blog.optimizely.com/2014/08/21/why-als-association-ice-bucket-challenge-is-leaving-millions-on-the-table/

I have night class Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'd hate to miss future meet ups! Anyone else busy on those days to maybe help push for alternating days? One meet up Thursday, next one on a Wednesday, etc

    • Davey M.

That's true. I'll see if I can round up some people to speak.

Well I have class at 7. If I leave at 630 I'm fine. So really the[masked] works perfectly if they're short :)

Sorry I missed this one, but I got lost. I hope to make the next meet up!

Hi JoAnne - that might be because Google maps for whatever reason has the address marked on the 7000 block of Central, and not the 1900 block - so sorry!

  • Andi G.

Davey, that was awesome! Thank you so much for your wisdom, for sharing and for all of the great direction for our landing pages :)

Waste of time! After driving around in circles trying to find this place. I read the other members' post that the address and map were posted wrong. Just a couple of suggestion for next time:
    1) verify your map and directions before posting a meet-up
    2) arrange a location that can accommodate parking for 60+ people such as a fast-food restaurant or conference-room at a hotel, or some other location that has parking available
    3) schedule the meet-up after 7 pm if it is on a week night. 5:30 pm works for those that work next door to your location or do not work at all.

Hey Mark - Sorry Google maps steered you wrong. If you want to organize something, feel free! Until then, I'll keep doin' what I'm doin' and you're free to join us if you can make it.

Thanks Jaime for the push to do this. I'm up for me.

Thanks to everybody who made it to the meetup! I had a good time presenting. I was a little rusty speaking but everybody involved made it a lot easier to get into it. I look forward to the next meetups.

Sorry, really wanted to make this but it's not looking like I'll be able to.

Whoa - that map is WRONG! Central starts at 0 and runs to the 80s .... the numbers correspond with the cross-streets, east to west. So, 1980 is just before block 20, or 20th Street. In Grand Central District, RIGHT off I275 exit for 5th Ave N.

    August 14

  • Jaime F.

Just wanted to clarify the location of tonight's meetup as this site says 1980 Central Ave and facebook says 1970 Central Ave (which lead to two different end of St. Pete)... I'm pretty sure it's 1970, correct?

    • Martin F.

Yeah, map link is borked. This one works: https://www.google.com...

    • Adam C.

Oh, no wonder I can't find this place. I'm driving around the west side of st Pete

A funny thing happened on the way to the meetup... gonna have to miss this one, see ya next time.

Hey y'all - It's going to be a tight squeeze in here tonight so get ready to get cozy, and maybe stand. We have around 45-50 chairs; I wasn't expecting this huge turnout! We'll make it work. I do have some snacks and sodas/waters, but feel free to bring food if you want dinner or anything more substantial. You're also welcome to bring beer or something adult-ish to drink if you'd like. We do have a sponsor (and possibly a larger space) for next month's meet-up; we'll see how this goes and adjust as we go for time/accommodations.

    See you soon!

Andi, are there any particular details we should know about parking? I'm coming from Sarasota so I'm trying to plan the route.

    August 14

    • Andi G.

2 hour parking is available on the street out front, both east and west of the building. Unlimited street parking is available WEST of the building on 1st Ave S (closer) or 1st Ave N (farther). Sorry - I'd sent it via email yesterday but I know a lot of them get blocked.

    • Tim K.

Great thank you. See you then.

Had last minute stuff come up and won't be able to make it this time, so I just changed my RSVP so someone else can join if there was a waiting list.

    See ya'll next time

I'm excited as this will be my first meetup event that I can attend. I will be bringing a co-worker as well, see you all tonight. Thanks!

Will the talk be recorded in any way? I want to go to this so bad but I've got a programming class. Even if it's just audio paired with the deck, that would be great.

If someone has the tech to do so, I welcome it. We haven't gotten that far into it yet!

Are the meetups always this early? Just curious - thanks!

Yeah, I don't know if I can make this one. I'm at work until 6pm in Downtown Clearwater, but I am hoping I can get off work early.

We have sponsors for food for the next few; this will be an anamoly. I'm happy to change this with crowd input though! Let's talk tomorrow evening.

I look forward to attending the MeetUp at Big Sea. If anyone has any questions regarding the job market in Tampa Bay please seek me out tomorrow.
