If you are interested in some class III paddling, we can plan on either Foxton or Waterton Canyon. As I schedule this, we don't have any idea of what will be flowing, but put the date on your calendar and we can dial it in the days prior. Let this serve as a placeholder for a day of class III-IV and we'll find it, ideally off the 285 corridor. Contingency plans may take us as far afield as Clear Creek, the Ark or the Poudre, but let's plan on taking this day to paddle something white. Consensus is to travel and paddle the Eagle River. As of Friday flow is running 1175 CFS. Prepare for cold weather and cold water. There will be a couple of sections run and various ratings from class 2 to class 4 river running. Some continuous whitewater but no overly strenuous starting in the town of Eagle - Vail down into the Avon Whitewater park for playboaters. After that easier water down through Railroad Bridge rapid in Wolcott. Rapid is scoutable and can be portaged with some effort. Not many have confirmed yet but we going to have some fun.
“ Rick Fox,
You did a great job leading this group meet up. I felt very comfortable with the decisions that the group made. Excelent trip, fun, and enjoyable (even though I did loose a paddle.... GRIN).
Thanks for all of your effort,
Andrew. ”
“ I had a really good time even though the trip did not go quite as expected. It was a great learning experience and Rick did a good job leading it. I felt comfortable boating with him and others even though I never boated with any of them or on the Eagle River. Everyone who attended had a great attitude and went with the flow making it a fun day for all. ”
