This trip is a class II adventure for those paddlers looking to either learn or sharpen their skills for more demanding whitewater. The character of the run is a winding stream with pool and drop rapids of class II difficulty. For a more thorough description of river difficulty classification please see the message posted here on this site.

We will be able to walk any rapid that you wish. The water at this writing (Wednesday) is on the high side. It's been raining so there's no telling if it will be higher or lower by Sunday but you may check flows at www.mountainbuzz.com/flows.

We will obviously not be paddling at the Sedalia Grill, but since Meetup only accommodates street addresses we have to create a "meetup" spot and then carpool from there. The Sedalia Grill is a good option for us to meet of Hwy 85 before heading west to the South Platte to the river. There are a number of destinations we may choose to begin and end our trip which will vary with the water levels and skills of participants. We'll determine our put-in and take-out on Sunday.

You should be paddling a boat equipped for whitewater for this run. If in a kayak, make sure you have a sprayskirt and helmet. This will be a fun outing to get familiar with moving water and whitewater.

Lot's of "duckies" signed up for this trip. Make sure you are prepared for cold water immersion; dry tops, drysuit or wetsuits are necessary. This will be fun if we're safe.

water is high. I am happy for the good response but want to make sure we have enough experience to make it both safe and fun.

I was happy we didn't have any injuries of consequence beyond a few bangs from encounters of fast-moving bodies in swift water; Aaron's chipped tooth notwithstanding! Some surprises: 1. campground fee for day use, $5 p/vehicle. I guess we need to get used to expecting these fees at all public use areas. 2. that some members who showed up were not at all prepared for swift flat water, much less any rapids. Comment: the group will benefit from some safety training and practice.

Beautiful day, good water, nice folks, well led and nobody died.
    •  Great group of people...many skill levels, lots of support for the less experienced! I had a great time!
    •  This was a very fun and eventful day. The group of was absolutely amazing and I look forward to future outing with them. There were many different skill levels that attended. Bob, as well as everyone who came out, made this float enjoyable for all who came.
    •  Great day on the river! Nice folks, relatively little carnage, pretty scenery and the chutes were a blast!
