Paddle around the islands at Dillon Reservoir

  • frisco marina

902 E. Main St., frisco, CO (map)

    39.576488 -106.093872

  • We'll meet near Frisco Marina at 9:00am, on water at 9:30 for a trip around the islands. This is not a long distance paddle, but will involve a couple hours on the water.

Frisco Marina is located on the east end of Main street. If we park in the SE corner of the lot, we'll be out of the way of powerboats and it's only 100' or so to carry to the lake.

Note: Due to multiple events at Frisco Marina this day, we may shift our launch site. Giberson Bay is the backup option, it's located on the Dillon Dam Road on the south side of the islands. There is a $5 per vehicle day use fee to use Giberson Bay. An e-mail will be sent to people who have RSVPed "Yes", a few days before the trip with the latest updates.

The reservoir will have cold water and there is always the chance of a quick storm passing through while we are on the water. Please bring the appropriate gear for both conditions.

Optional after paddle lunch at Himalayan Cuisine a few blocks away:

    Trip Cancelled

The water conditions at Dillon are very low. There are no islands, they're high and dry, landlocked. It's a good quarter mile portage from parking to water. People are more than welcome to paddle Dillon during the scheduled time, but since conditions are far from ideal, the trip is officially cancelled. If you opt to paddle, the only launches will be at the marinas. Launching from one of the side accesses will require a long portage through mud, creating both a mess and an ankle twisty hazard.

Bummer, thanks Eric for checking on the situation so we weren't surprised when we got up there.
