ADVANCED COMPOSITION AND LIGHTROOM
CREATING MOVEMENT, ENERGY AND DRAMA

With Dan Ballard
In this five hour class Dan will teach you how to work with the elements to create images with energy and drama, and then to come home and finish your masterpiece in Lightroom.  He will focus on how to see more effectively and how to look for stunning compositions as well as how to use Lightroom (or Adobe Camera RAW) to get that deep, rich look that most photographers thrive for, but few know how to achieve.

Dan always gets rave reviews about his classes and presentations and we guarantee you will go away inspired, with new tools to edit your images. This class will help you to create powerful, jaw dropping photographs!

MORE ABOUT COMPOSITION
Learning how the elements of a scene will be represented in a photograph is one of the toughest things to accomplish.   Dan will show examples of images and paintings where design and composition create energy and movement, and talk about why they influence the eye and mind the way they do.

Dan will also talk about adding elements to your photographs that convey energy themselves.  Moving water, sand or snow, severe weather, subjects in motion, color contrast or exciting lighting.

By combining energetic subjects with great composition and design, you can make an extremely dramatic and powerful photograph.

MORE ABOUT LIGHTROOM
One of least understood aspects of photography is how to correctly edit an image to make it shine. Dan will share all of his secrets for really making an image come to life.  Half of creating an exceptional dramatic image is in the editing, and Dan will show examples of using Lightroom to create the desired look.

By using strong black points, dodging and burning to lead the eye, digital graduated filters to make every part of the image perfect and many other ideas you will be able to transform your editing process.

This class will focus 100% on the artistic side of shooting and editing and will not cover camera settings, or things like importing and organizing in Lightroom.  Two hours composition, three hours Lightroom.

This class is intended for all levels of photographers from beginners to serious enthusiasts.  It is also suitable for those who prefer Adobe Camera Raw as most of the editing tools are the same.

TESTIMONIALS
"The class was great! I've spent more money on a Lightroom class and got half as much productive knowledge out of it. I walked away thinking I can now do something with Lightroom!”

"Superb!!! This was exactly what I was hoping it would be. As a long time NX2 user, Dan's demonstration made it clear to me that even as an old guy who is slow to learn that I can learn and use LR4 and enjoy it. Thanks Dan!!!!”

"Wow...What a fantastic class. Dan is very, very passionate and this definitely comes across. I learned a lot from him and can't wait to get started. Thanks Dan for all the information. Loved it!”

"That was amazing! Dan's insights into working with Lightroom 4 was very helpful. He also does a great job of teaching quite a lot in a short amount of time.

Dan is an excellent instructor and I am so glad that I signed up for this presentation! I really appreciated that the majority of the time was spent on image editing. It was so helpful to see Dan's RAW images right out of the camera, and then watch him edit them. Thanks SO much, Mike and Dan, for setting this up for us! I learned a LOT!”

"Dan did a fabulous job sharing his workflow with both landscape and portraits within Lightroom. Showing his before and after photos, then recreating the same effect within the class was a benefit to me. Then repeat those steps several times with various photos helped me to really learn his workflow thus allowing me to incorporate some of his steps into my own photography. Great presentation!!”

"Excellent. Dan Ballard is an accomplished instructor who knows his Lightroom and is able to share it effectively with his audience. The class exceeded my expectations and opened new possibilities for my photography.”

“Wonderful event, engaged audience, well-illustrated session highlighted by superb photography and a contagious speaker, who could ask for more?!"

Dan, Can't thank you enough. I went through my photos I and found several I thought were unusable. I used the techniques you demonstrated and I have a couple photos that may be a couple of my best. You were right, if shot in good light it was all there ready to be exposed. The best $45 dollars I have spent!!! Can't wait for future opps to learn from you!

Wonderful class. Just learning about using the black slider to start edits was worth the price. I finally learned how to use the gradient filter. Am looking forward to taking one of Dan's workshops.

Dan Ballard have a great presentation with enthusiasm and passion. The tips and techniques were great and absolutely helpful. Even those I have heard again and again finally clicked. The Lightroom workflow really put it all together. Ten points!

Is bringing a laptop with LR encouraged for this class? There is no mention of that in the description.

    February 5, 2014

    • Dan S.

Thank you Teri. How about power strips, should I bring my own? My laptop has poor battery life.

      February 5, 2014

    • Dan B.

Hi Dan, yes, please bring you own power strip if you have one.

I'm confused. Are there two of these sessions? I thought I registered for the one on February 8th and I then I see this one for the 15th - which I can't make. Also, everyone attending is the same as are alk of the comments. A duplicate?

    February 6, 2014

    • Teri

Amanda, check you email. I just sent out a notice. The instructor has the flu and we had to cancel Saturday Feb 8th, and reschedule for Saturday Feb 15th. If you can't make the new date, there are instructions in the email of how to get a refund. Thanks for your patience!

    • Amanda

Hope he feels better. I'll see if I can modify my schedule for the 15th. Thanks!
