Thanks to everyone who commented on my photo. Its really encouraging to get positive feedback from a group of very talented photographers. There were so many excellent images submitted and I'm looking forward to the stories behind each of them. Now about this photo... On Jun 14, 2005, I cut a rose from our garden and gave it to my wife as we prepared for yet another trip to the hospital. She passed away 10 days later of a rare disease that she had struggled with for a little over 3 years. A portion of her cremation remains were used to create a blue diamond. A jeweler in Boulder then designed a ring using the gold from our wedding bands and set the diamond in it. To me, the rose in the picture represents the fragility and uncertainty of life. In the ring I see the permanence of true love. I don't know if I'll ever take a better photo but I'm certain I'll never take one that means more to me. Thank you again.
