We'll take Stove Prairie to 12 and then up the Poudre to Walden. Lunch in Walden, then S to Granby. Coffe and/or ice cream in Grand Lake and over RMNP back home. This is an all day ride of around 220 miles.
We are a riding group, the focus is simple - getting out & riding SAFELY and enjoy the roads and the views. We welcome ALL types of riders, new and experienced, young and old, men and women, 2 wheels and 3 wheels. We promote enjoyment in riding through knowledge, training and riding often (practice). Our rides are mostly day rides with stops for lunch and some views, sometimes some sightseeing. Generally we don't drink alcoholic beverages while on a ride. Wearing a DOT approved helmet is strongly encouraged.
How we ride:
Ride your own ride, i.e. you are responsible for your own speed and safety. If the rider in front of you goes faster than you feel comfortable, slow down.
Ride your own ride, i.e. you give everybody the space they need. Using the whole width of your lane and keeping 2 seconds between you and the rider in front of you outside of town is strongly recommended, 3 or 4 seconds is better. See the Moto Twisty Training page about safe riding technique in the mountains and other twisting roads.
In town we ride in a stagger formation in order to better make it through lights, outside of town, see items 1 and 2 above.
Before joining a group ride it is recommended that you have enough riding experience to be comfortable riding in staggered formation within city limits and enough riding experience to go up and down a canyon at or close to the posted speed limit. You should also have done a ride of the approximate same length before.
Stagger formation: the 1st rider rides in the left side of the lane, the 2nd rider in the right side of the lane and about 1 second behind the 1st rider. The 3rd rider rides in the left side of the line, about 1 second behind the 2nd rider, i.e. about 2 seconds behind the first rider and so on.
