As the event host for the "U-pick Certified Organic CHERRIES & Picnic" I apologize to all 50+ members & their guests who RSVPed "Yes", for any inconvenience you may have had on Sunday due to the Powerhouse fire.

The good news is that the ranch still has plenty of cherries and is open everyday, 8a-5p, until they run out, which the husband & wife owners of the ranch think will be this Saturday or Sunday. Though the last day may be later due to low attendance from the fire. The majority of their Rainier variety will be fully ripe by this Wednesday or Thursday. The owners are extremely friendly, helpful & gracious. Please go support this affordable small family organic farm by taking your own trip up there this week, but before you leave please call them for updates the day of at[masked]-1900. If any member wants to host a meetup for it, please contact me, I can help!

A great day. Thank you so much for organizing this. It was fun cherry picking my cherries. They were delicious, looking forward to eating more tonight. The orchard was lovely with a shaded picnic area.

We had such a wonderful time in the cherry orchard today. It was nice meeting new friends, sharing fruit and relaxing after picking14 pounds of perfect organic cherries.

Could not get through the checkpoint so we went to Leona Valley Organics instead. Delicious Cherries especially the ones that are ripened and dried out like a raisin. Don't miss out this year's Cherries. Rainiers are ripening next. Call before you go to either orchard :)

We're in the line to get to the check point and its very long. Thinking of just going to the cherry farm before the line starts. Are you all just sticking it out in this checkpoint line?

    • Kenza

What is a checkpoint line? To get into the orchard? I am not there with my friend yet and wonder if we should just go to the farmer's market haha. It would be a great experience though ^-^

I just spoke to the ranch owners who said there's a CHP roadblock before their ranch due to a wildfire (that's west & no threat to them). CHP will let you through if you say you're going to Copeland's.

I couldn't find the original thread I replied to, but I understand Keong. I would like to go today from Santa Monica, but dont think its practical unless we have a few other people in our car to carpool. If anyone would like to ride from Santa Monica, let me know.

Hey guys, I'm Jason. I'm new to this group and just RSVP'd for tomorrows event. I was wondering if I could bring a paying friend with me along for the ride etc.?

    June 1, 2013

    • Keong

Jason, You can certainly bring your friend, just don't bring a portable BBQ pit. LOL. See you at the ranch.

I can't say for sure if I will make it or not. If I do go it will be alone in my own car so no need to wait for me at the carpool spot.

Sorry to miss this. I have other plans for Sunday. Have a great time everyone!
