Join us for a nutrition-themed Vegan Spirituality Potluck! Our guest, PCRM Food For Life instructor Lisa Karlan, will discuss the role of foods and lifestyle in neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, including how dietary fats and trace minerals can damage delicate brain structures. We will enjoy vegan food, great conversation, and participate in a meditative-eating experience led by Lisa Levinson. Please bring a vegan potluck dish to share, your own utensils/plate/cup, and an open heart! Vegan, plant-based raw and cooked foods are free of all animal products (honey, eggs, milk, meat, etc.).

Note: Times are approximate. You're welcome to eat during the presentation, but we will gather in the living room. For those with allergies, there are two adorable dogs & one sweet cat on the premises. This is an alcohol-free event.

About Lisa Karlan: Lisa is a Health Educator and Food for Life Instructor, certified by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. With a background in public health, nutrition and nursing, Lisa volunteered with Operation Crossroads Africa providing primary heath care in Ivory Coast. Later, Lisa spent 20 years coordinating the recovery of organs and tissue for transplantation and founded, Karlan Memorial Tissue Bank, the first nonprofit multiple tissue bank in California, and a tribute to her parents, who both passed away.

A few years ago, Lisa adopted a plant-based dietary lifestyle and experienced such dramatic health improvement that this compelled her to learn more about plant-based nutrition from experts across the country. Lisa believes that if she knew then, what she now knows, her parents might still be alive. Contrary to popular belief, the research shows that most chronic diseases: obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer and some autoimmune diseases are food borne illnesses and can be either prevented, reversed or stabilized by dietary choices. Lisa teaches others how to traverse this path to improved health, while knowing that these lifestyle choices will contribute to fewer animals destined to become food and also reduce the impact on our environment due to factory farms and resulting water consumption.
