Fall Foilage Event - Wayne County

A visit to a working potato farm in scenic Wayne County, complete with pumpkins, corn mazes, and hay rides ($10 admission fee).  An early dinner at the famous "The Barn" in Smithville will cap off our day!

Ramseyer Farms is a fifth-generation family owned and operated farm. In 1884 Daniel Ramseyer began  farming in Wayne County, Ohio. In the 1920’s his son, Alvin (A.C.) Ramseyer, expanded the operation to  include potatoes. A.C. sold his potatoes to peddlers and grocers in Cleveland, Columbus, Akron and  Canton. During the late 1930's and early 1940's potato chip companies became interested in Ramseyer  potatoes.

I was checking out Ramseyer Farms this weekend. There is a large barn/shelter between the parking lot and the "farm" You purchase tickets inside the shelter, so it would be a good place to meet. BTW, there is another corrn maze at "The Barn" shops and restaurant...be sure you go to Ramseyer (They are only 1 mile apart on state route 585). If coming through Smithville...pay attention to the speed limit...they are always ticketing, seriously.

Hi Jim - what is the carpooling meetup location? And what is the meetup location for those driving directly to the farm?

Hi Lori. I think the correct date is the 12th. I received an email with that after I posted my comment. Hope to see you!

Hi Jim. I just received an email that this date has been changed to October 5, but the heading above still says October 12. Which is the correct date? Is there a meeting point for the group?
