HammerHeart Brewery for Taproom Happy Hour!!!

Come join us for the start of a summer full of Minnesota's best microbreweries' taproom visits!  Our first destination:

HammerHeart Brewing  (and Jelly Bean and Julia's Food Truck, see below)

Note from HammerHeart (5/8/14):

Beginning this weekend, we are changing things up a bit and are now offering flights! Carved for us by Tim Jorgensen of the Hjemkomst Center in Moorehead, MN (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hjemkomst_Center)...we have 12 beautiful flight trays made up of four different carvings. These are wood replicas of whalebone plaques from the 9th or 10th Century, of which 60 such plaques have been found. Here, you can see images of many of the plaques found:http://www.pinterest.com/ramonahartley/whalebone-plaques/

The pricing for these will be $9, and includes four 5.5oz pours of any beer on tap.

The Nordic- and Celtic-inspired brewery resembles a hunting lodge and names its beers after people and places relevant to Norse mythology and the world of the Vikings. It has become known for its barrel-aged beers - everything from bourbon to brandy to aquavit barrels get used in finishing off the beers.

The Journey to Lino Lakes has all the fun parts of a road trip, but it's only 20 minutes north of the metro.  Set amid the pines outside this taproom is a gravel patio, complete with a fire pit-all the better to warm your Viking blood!

Must try:
Dublin Raid - peated Irish Red Ale
Olaf the Stout - Oaked Rye Stout

Jelly Bean and Julia's Food Truck!  (BACON JAM?!)

On the truck they are cooking up comfort foods like burgers, pulled pork, bacon-wrapped hot dogs, grilled cheese sandwiches and freshly made French fries. All items are tasty enough on their own, but what separates Jellybean & Julia's from the pack is their condiments. Koli makes everything except the ketchup and mustard from scratch.

What time is everyone going? This place looks really interesting. Coming from Edina, but can prolly make it by 4:00, depending on traffic?

Oops! I RSVP'd "yes" before I checked my calendar, so I had to change it due to a prior commitment. This sounds like fun; I'll be sorry to miss it, but look forward to another time.

For lighter beer drinkers like myself, I suggest the "Blonde" or the "British". I forget the full beer names (bad memory...see what happens when drinking). They don't have a fire pit yet, but a yummy food truck usually rolls up Friday evenings and parks at the brewery just outside the front door. Food + beer + laughs + viking style long tables = a perfect end to any work week.

I live blocks from here (lucky me). Directions: from 35W north, use exit 36. Turn left on Lake Drive. Go past Khols and the fire station. The brewery is on the left. Look for the black flag (sign) with the antlers.
