Now for something completely different!
Teapot Dome Orchestra first saw the light of day in 2010. The Orchestra is dedicated to preserving the music and spirit of the 1920s and 30s. Playing transcriptions and original arrangements from the Balaban & Katz theater chain, this 10-piece orchestra (with Tuba and Banjo!) brings life to the jazz and hot dance tunes of Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Isham Jones, Jelly Roll Morton and many others. The orchestra is comprised of core members of The Prohibition Orchestra and many of the finest ensembles in Chicagoland.
$10. Intended primarily as a concert performance, there's limited space for dancing (This music is Pre-Swing. Do you know the Peabody, Charleston, or Balboa???). Ask for the Meetup group and look for a table with a Meetup sign. Of course RSVPs are appreciated so we know how many jazz fans to expect, but last minute attendees are always welcome.
FitzGerald's does not serve food (not even pretzels!), but you can dine before the show next door at Capri Ristorante or bring your own snacks into FitzGerald's.
