                                              10 Days/ 8 Nights

AMALFI COAST- ONE OF THE MOST BREATH-TAKING SCENIC REGIONS IN THE WORLD!

Stretching about 50km along the southwest coast of Italy, the Amalfi Coast is one of Europe's most visited regions!   The breathtaking beauty with the Cliffs terraced with scented lemon groves sheer down into sparkling seas; colorful villas cling precariously to unforgiving slopes while sea and sky merge in one vast blue horizon.

Danny, I couldn't have said it better!

I declared Danny Mc as MVP of the trip--\

the group was way too large--a recurrent problem with this group--in fact when i gave Michael my check i told him i did not want to go if this was going to be another large group--he assured me that there would NOT be more than 35 on this group--if i had known there would be 62 i would never had signed up initially--this caused changes in hotels *and not for the better as i can tell and logistic problems --as we all know. that said--what wonderful people and places--but i prefer to travel with smaller groups for such long trips

  • Danny M.

Overall, I enjoyed it. After all, I was on vacation. :)

    A few items:
    1) Group was WAY too large and the logistical challenges were noticeable and cut into the experience.
    2) Too much deviation from what we purchased.
    3) Tried to do too much in a short period of time which leads us to the next one...
    4) Spent WAY WAY too much time on the bus which took away from us doing "stuff".
    5) I liked Antonio. We share a lot of the same views but in a customer facing roll that he was filling, he needs to keep his political and personal views to himself. While I did agree with him on a lot of things, I am on vacation and want to hear about his country, the sights and the history of the various buildings and locations, not have him bag on our country over and over all-the-while holding his hand out for more more of our money. Save the political discussions for the bar after the daily activities where an open dialogue can be had.
    6) Met a lot of awesome people!
    7) Got a Pope selfie!

It was wonderful. Only complaints are that the group was too large to manage effectively and We did not expect all the tip requests. Otherwise fantastic. We met a lot of terrific people.

If you haven't checked your bank accounts do so ASAP. 3 of us have already realized that our cards have been compromised. It appears the info was captured at an ATM and then they withdrew money. The card company can stop the card and refund the $. Had a great time with y'all!

My bank contacted me this morning ... Looks like my debit card was compromised beginning 5/28 or 29.

I have been doing some reading on Visa/Mastercard usage. Most posts I find say to use cash. Surprise. Surprise. :) My preference as well. Anyone have any suggestions on how much cash to convert to Euros?

    May 21

    • Troy K.

Let me share an experience from 35 yrs ago when I was in the Air Force. I was told to put money and credit cards in my front packets, big bills in the left and small bills in the right. Always pay out of the right pocket. Exchange big bills at the bank or hotel desk and put into the right pocket. If pick pockets watch you, they should go for your right pocket, which has the small bills. I don't know the best way to advise ladies though, since they often don't have pants pockets.

Carpooling... Anyone live in the I-24/Bell Road area that would like to carpool?

I was thinking of having my roommate take me to the airport tomorrow around 11:30a and then take a cab when we return on the 1st. Anyone want to carpool and split a return cab fee?

    May 21

    • laura

Sure....I live off ohb in same area. If you want, when we return, can split one

      May 21

Laura - sounds good. When you have an opportunity, can you call me on my cell phone [masked]). We can discuss. BTW, I am in group B flying out at 2:25p.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT EVERYONE PURCHASE CSA INSURANCE FOR THE ITALY TRIP! It is priced very reasonably and just logistics wise- there are so many delays that can happen... And most Health Insurance does not cover Europe... for $135 - $145 you can be fully insured with CSA's Custom Luxe program and it even covers $250k in health insurance and up to $1 million in emergency evacuation- should it be necessary... Go to http://www.csatravelprotection.com/ to purchase Today... There is no discount code for our group... but it is the best Travel Protection in the Nation- according to TripAdvisor.com... Do it today!

i am assuming we can sign up for the excursions on may 7th--

    • Michael G.

Hi Susan- I wish I could extend the deadline that long... but the Rome tour company, I am working with is requesting payment earlier...All of the tour descriptions and payment details are on the pdf document emailed earlier this week... I would highly recommend All of the Main Full-Day Tours- Capri, VIP Vatican w/ Pope and Tuscany Trips... And on Monday, May 26th you have a choice of tours: 1.) Paestum, Mozzarella & Limoncello Factory Tours or 2.) Neopolitan Coooking Class on an authentic Campania Farm - as these tours take place at the same time..... but they're both going to be off the charts!

      April 13

Optional Italy Excursions went out earlier this week! Don't miss out on this Amazing Adventures that are taking us to some of the most beautiful places in the world... Isle of Capri and Tuscany wine region! And Get Ready for our customized VIP Tour of the Vatican and a special chance to See and Hear Pope Francis up close as he delivers his Papal Message! These tours are the main reason, why we're traveling 5,000 miles to Italy.... so don't miss out on these Once in a Lifetime Experiences! And, a reminder... Our next and final pre-trip mixer is scheduled for Valentino's upstairs Piano Bar on Wed. May 7th from 5-8pm.... We have the entire upstairs reserved for our group and their will live piano music and drink/food specials....

This trip looks wonderful! Do families with children ever go on these trips? We homeschool our 2 well-behaved boys and love to travel with them.

    • Michael G.

Hi Wanda.... Fun Happenings trips are for Adults only- as we're usually traveling to areas geared more for adults than families... If children are of adult age (18-19).... they are welcome... As we had (2) Mother son/daughter groups on our May Greece Trip and they both thoroughly enjoyed the trip!

Michael - What kind of a deal do you have on airfare to Rome?

    December 13, 2013

    • Michael G.

Ron- The best deal / connections I found... we're on US Airways for $1492 via Charlotte NC and non-stop into Rome.... We have 45 seats booked on these flights... But you may purchase your own Air- depending on any vouchers or frequent flyer miles you may have... just arrive before our 9:30am on 5/23- to make our transfer to Sorrento from Rome Airport....

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
