Movie (Million Dollar Arm) & Dinner

How about watching a cheap movie and then having dinner with all the money we saved? ;)  Admission at Elvis Cinemas is only $2.50 before 6pm and $3.50 after.

We will watch Million Dollar Arm.  Hopefully we can learn a bit about Indian culture :).

In a last ditch effort to save his career as a sports agent, JB Bernstein concocts a scheme to find baseball's next great pitcher. Hoping to find a young cricket pitcher he can turn into a major league baseball star, JB travels to India to produce a reality show competition called "Million Dollar Arm." He discovers Dinesh and Rinku, two 18 year old boys who have no idea about playing baseball, yet have a knack for throwing a fastball. As the boys learn the finer points of baseball - JB, with the help of his charming friend Brenda (Lake Bell) - learns valuable life lessons about teamwork, commitment and what it means to be a family.

Showtime is 4 pm.

We will start congregating in the lobby around 3:30 pm.  I (Chanil) will be holding up a red Meetup sign until 3:50 and then head in.

After the movie, we will meet up in the lobby and then head over to Piccolo (3563 S Monaco Pkwy, Denver) for dinner.  http://piccolo-online.com/

If you're late, please make sure to look for the group in the lobby after the movie.

Dinner and a movie might not be the most mind blowing activity, but I really enjoyed the food, the movie, and the chance to talk to everyone.

Amy, you are right. I fell asleep on the couch. I'm a bit of an insomniac. I tend to get sleep when I can. Sorry I missed the fun.

Million Dollar Arm is a movie about baseball on the surface, but the underlying theme is the human spirit that transcends language, culture and economic status. Loved how the main characters overcome their shortcomings, fear and obstacles to reach their potential in the end....very inspiring! Thank you all for coming out. I enjoyed hanging out with you and hope to see you all real soon :).

Chanil, I'm not going to be able to make the movie and will cancel my RSVP. I might be able to make the dinner. Is the reservation still at 7:00?

    June 20

    • Chanil

Yes, it is. And I put you back on the RSVP list as it is more for dinner than the movie.

Thank you for stopping by to say hi. Hope to meet you at another event!

If the pitcher falls and hits his head on a bar stool and is paralyzed - requiring his manager to turn off his ventilator - then I'm going to cry all over whomever is sitting next to me.

This is a Disney movie, so I doubt that we will see a sequence like that unless Clint Eastwood is the director......shouldn't matter though because there's no crying in baseball!
