This group is for people that want to make new friends. While many of our members are single, you don’t have to be in order to join us. Research shows that our friends greatly influence our habits, for good and for bad. Are your friends helping you to reach your goals for exercise and healthy eating habits? If not, maybe it’s time to meet some people that share your goals. If your friends are a positive influence, than grab them and sign up for an event together! If you happen to be single, it’s always nice to meet people that have similar life experiences. Please do not join us if you are just looking for a date. That is not what this group is about and members that act inappropriately will be removed.
Please keep in mind that event organizers are volunteers who spend many hours planning events for your enjoyment. There is no charge to you for joining this group, but we do expect you to be responsible about RSVPing for events. If you RSVP “yes” and suddenly find yourself unable to attend, please be responsible enough to change your RSVP. Many of us have smart phones and check attendance at that event. Members that are determined to be "no shows" more than once will be dropped from the group. If you continue to have a perfect record of zero “no-shows”, you will be allowed to attend any event that has a waiting list even if the automatic system puts you on the waiting list. Just come – you’ve earned that privilege by being a responsible member of this group (please check with the organizer first).
Walking is a healthy way to get to know people. We meet for regular walks up Mt. Rubidoux followed by dinners in the downtown (Riverside) area. We also have a wide range of activities conducive to a healthy lifestyle, including indoor rock climbing lessons, hikes, volleyball and of course, suggestions are always welcome if you have an activity you would like to contribute!
All members are required to post current pictures of themselves!
When you sign up for MeetUp.com, all members of Meetup must agree to their Terms of Service. Section 5.2 specifically releases the Organizer from any liability related to incidents that occur at Meetup gatherings. However, just to make sure, I have added the following Waiver of Liability which can be summarized as follows:
> YOU AGREE THAT OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES ARE RISKY.
> YOU ACKNOLWEDGE THAT WE ARE NOT PROFESSIONALS.
> YOU ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR SAFETY.
> BY ACCEPTING MEMBERSHIP, YOU AGREE TO OUR WAIVER OF LIABILITY.
> IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE WAIVER, PLEASE RESIGN AS A MEMBER.
