We have just changed our Meetup group name from Sunday Hikes to Hikes & More Fun at Jack London State Historic Park to better describe what you can expect in the coming year. In 2015 we will continue to announce our docents led hikes throughout the 1400 acres of the park plus add a varied series of events such as our Outdoor Adventures series including hiking, nature hikes/walks and bird watching field trips ; an Artist series with plein air watercolors, sketching and acrylics classes, plus photography including a light painting class. New this year we will offer a Hiking for Fitness series starting with the basics and ending with a celebration at the summit of the park. Maybe you want to learn more about Jack London, well, start with our Jack London Book Discussion Group, this year exploring some of his fiction with a taste of the local area; and yes we will continue our Music in the Park and Park History Series which are always popular. At all of these classes you can expect a friendly fun group of people with like interests and led by knowledgeable docents and professionals for a memorable experience. To help us keep the park open--we need to charge a nominal fee plus parking. You need to understand that Jack London State Historic Park is self sustaining and receives no funding from State Parks. So stay tuned and check our website periodically for the times and dates of upcoming events at www.jacklondonpark.com. Follow us on Facebook
