Art of Video Games @ Phoenix Art Museum

The Phoenix Art museum offers free admission for First Fridays.  They have their Art of Video Games exhibit running through September 29th, entrance into this specific exhibit is discounted to $8 or free for Phoenix Art Museum members. Check out the 40-year evolution of video games.  Yes, Pong is that old.  For those of us that cut our teeth on Atari and then saved our allowance to buy an 8-bit NES, this is sure to be a nostalgic exhibit.

Special for First Fridays will be:

  1. A winner-takes-all high score tournament by Microsoft
  2. Live music by Minibosses
  3. A photo booth
  4. Retro Arcade Games
  5. Video game inspired drinks

That was a lot of fun! Very nostalgic! It was neat setting how video games effected people psychologically and the gift shop was pretty cool too! I think I might find myself back there before it ends to pick up on of those "jump from paper" purses. Those were so amazing!

It was fun, my husband and I enjoyed the Art Museum and the band was really good. We never did find our group, we found other groups and they were great. It was my first meetup and I figured there'd be a sign or name tag or something. Oh well next time I can make an event I'll get more info before I head out. Will look forward to that!

I ended up working late and probably the soonest I could get there is about 7:30. If anyone sees this let me know if the group will still be there. Sorry!

There is an awesome Nintendo cover band called the Mini Bosses that will be playing at 6 and at 8 - I could see a lot of you really enjoying them so thought I'd mention it! Have a great time!

For those of you arriving at 6pm, we will meet in the Greenbaum Lobby on the north side of the museum. I will be heading in to the exhibit about 6:15. I can be reached at[masked] if anybody has any trouble finding us.

Also to clear up any confusion about First Fridays at the Art Museum, admission is free but it is $8 for the special exhibit.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
