Are you willing to abstain from drinking alcohol when attending one of our events? (note: this is mandatory)
Tell us a little more about yourself... Examples include: What do you do for work? Where are you from? What brought you to Boston? What are your hobbies? What is it that interests you about this group?
From New York originally, love playing sports, looking for things which do not include alcohol.
We will do our best to avoid bars. Would you be willing to host a Meetup at your home at some point in the future? This would be for the purpose of board games, potlucks, and cookouts in the summer. Please answer “Would Consider” or “No”
This isn't a singles group; however, so we can put together events for everyone, are you single or otherwise available?
Please confirm you've read the following: You agree to keep your (yes & no) RSVP accurate. You agree to make an effort to attend an event instead of just joining the group. You agree to not blindly contact members prior to meeting them in person.
I still conciser myself new to Boston and run S3 Boston.
Join with confidence. I’m a founder/organizer and event organizer of many other groups with a direct network of over 10,000 members!
What we’re all about:
Too much of Meetup surrounds awkward get-togethers in bars—some of which, that’s all they do. So let’s be serious, it’s tough to avoid alcohol. It’s everywhere. This group will make every effort to set events without alcohol as well as create an environment where you can feel more comfortable not having a drink in your hand.
Members are required to abstain from alcohol and drug consumption while in attendance at any of our events... this still applies even if there are other groups there who are drinking.
We are not limited to those who had or have problems with their alcohol use; nor do we advocate teetotalism. The sober, recovering, fitness/health focused, and those with medical issues—all are welcome.
Members are allowed to suggest their own Meetups!
Here are the guidelines for suggesting Meetups:
• No excursions or day trips. • No political events, rallies, or religious activities. • Nothing that costs over $25. • Boston/Greater Boston area only. Ideal locations will be directly accessible by subway or bus. A significant amount of members do not have a car.
Are you also into Fitness? In your 30's? Please join either of the below groups!
1. It is CRITICAL that you keep your RSVP’s up to date. It creates false expectations of our members, puts vendor relationships at risk, and is just plain rude. So please use that cute red button. It only takes a second. If you can't go in the first place, do nothing.
2. Contacting other members prior to meeting them is seriously frowned upon. This isn't Match.com or a career website. Members leave the group and will never attend an event because of this behavior.
3. While at an event, treat our members AND the staff of venues with respect. Your behavior has an affect on all of us.
