Duuuuude: What if we were all coding in Dylan right now?

"The Dylan programming language is a multi-paradigm language that includes support for functional and object-oriented programming, and is dynamic and reflective while providing a programming model designed to support efficient machine code generation, including fine-grained control over dynamic and static behaviors. It was created in the early 1990s by a group led by Apple Computer." --
Dylan (programming language) The Newton failed and Apple decided to buy a highly object-oriented graphical interface framework which eventually became Cocoa Touch, and today it is AGAINST THE LAW to do functional programming on handheld Apple products, unless it's in JavaScript. How did this happen? Perhaps the answer is at the bottom of a glass on Broome Street. If you have a MessagePad please bring it.

No snowstorm can stop us from debating the value of abstraction.

I'm from Utah. Complaining about this weather is cowardly!

Hell yeah it is ON! It takes more than a foot (or whatever) of snow to keep Functional Alcoholics away from a bar.

    Still on?
I hope no-one is planning on bailing because of the weather. I am coming in from Westchester...

By the way, Broome Street Bar has food and some of us are likely to eat it. We'll grab the tables in the room past the bar, if they're available.

I hope the video embedded on the group home page helps everyone cope with the loss of Dylan. http://www.meetup.com/Functional-Alcoholics/
